I know you all don't read that slowly....:P
I post some at another forum, and I've noticed that while HOP has produced only a handful of new posts over the last hour, every time I hit New Posts at the other place, I get half a dozen or more. There have been about the same number of registered members and guests on each forum during the course of that time. This must mean you either don't have a lot to say (seems unlikely for a bunch of political forum junkies) or you have hidden forums, and the majority of the members are posting there right now. Perhaps complaining about each other or complaining about new members, who knows :)
Fine and good, but don't forget to come out in public once in a while. The board is slooooow and boring right now. If you want the membership to grow, it would seem that a lot of new posts from which to pick and choose which to respond to would help new members stay interested. It's bad enough that the server seems to be slower than some, but for there to be no new posts in over 25 minutes really blows.

Some others of us are searching desperately for it. I just spent the last half hour filling out an application for AMC Movie Theaters.

I'm afraid to say anything, because I got a warning for calling somebody "Sherlock", then asking if they forgot to take their meds today.

I called him the magic negro to, but I got away with it, maybe they think I am black, or maybe I am black, and their Internet Racial ID software determined that I wasn't a threat.

No their isn't one, but there should be. 500+ posts sound good? Anyway, I like it this way. As soon as this forum gets so big that you cant reply to all the messages because theres too many new threads and posts and you can't find your last response I'm out of here.

have you counted my posts one by one.. do all *134* of them actually show up, or are we more clever than that and the post count doesn't even reflect it

This is a perfect example to show how Whites can be
mistaken for being Black.
As for myself I have House of Politics saved on both of

pass time away whenever its not my day in the field or
whenever I am in the office with NO clients.

By the tone in most posts I can tell what race a poster is from,
and I know I reveal my color in which there is no shame to my

I would like the apologise to the rest of the members, this is a small forum and we need more regular members, not less, but I think my request was valid and in the interest of everyone else, and he took it the wrong way. I don't want to give the impression I plan to go nuts and abuse the moderator priviledges I've been given.

Lip, I think that the reason for the slowdown is people
is getting tired of the same bs day after day on these
boards. Yes indeed there is alots of better things to
do besides argue on the internet, and I believe people
are starting to see that.
However, there is some very interesting people who
do post with good sense, and they are the ones who
keep these boards alive. Plus it also depends on how
well the site administrators enforce their TOS rules.

As a moderator on a few other boards I can say the mods are constantly doing a balancing act of keeping posters civil while at the same time letting posters express their views.
Sometimes there is a lot going on behind the scenes that posters don't know about.
Running one of these boards is no easy task.:)

well according to the rules and what i was told by the ADMIN is that ONLY the Administrators or Moderators are allowed to post Links to other boards either in signatures or in posts
all REGULAR members are DIS-ALLOWED to post Links in signatures whether hyper linked or not...as well they are also BANNED from posting hyperlinks in posts
i was asked to remove my link in my signature the 3rd day i was here I did so and havent re posted it in any signatures
i was asked about my website and have had several ask me for a link to it. when i sent the link, many of you thought i was sending links to pornographic sites ,or swearing as you all saw was the following "****************.net "in the messages
i was then told we as regular members are NOT SUPPOSED to be "Spamming" other political message boards while we are posting here
thats what i was told

From this websites POSTED rules
==========================================
Do not put links in your signatures.
Non-HouseofPolitics staff members are not allowed to have links in signatures because there have been many cases where people will join and put a link to their website in their signature and post spam throughout the forum.
The only links that are allowed are the links you use to cite a source.

I just joined a few days ago. Still deciding if I want to stay. I am not crazy about the rather draconian censorship moderation on here.
I came over here from 'political forum'. While it is a much better forum IMO, it is having severe software/server problems, so I am looking at alternatives.
The other one I was looking at was 'crossfire' which seems to be the mirror opposite extreme of this forum (little or no moderation, ridiculously huge signatures, constant name calling, ect...)
9sublime
06-05-2007, 08:03 AM
This forum really doesn't have much moderation at all, and don't just think I'm saying this because I'm a mod, I've only been one a few days.
We only delete spam, because forums like this suffer from it a lot. This whole argument has been dragged up because some typed spaces between the words in a link to stop it from being a hyperlink, and then claimed I was calling it spam unfairly.
I hate political correctness, I think that you should be allowed to say whatever you like on here, until it is simply a highly personal attack that achieves nothing in the debate, or is just completley off topic and ridiculous, unrelated and breaking up the discussion. I'm not one for much moderation, just enough to keep things moving.

I think there might be something screwy with the cache settings in vBulletin. It does some weird stuff, like I will hit "new posts" and have no new posts. I can do that for anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, and sometimes new posts come up even though the forum software says the search was performed 20 minutes ago. Also, sometimes after logging in the login box still shows that you need to log in where it normally displays "Welcome, <member>". If I go to another page, the login prompt goes away and my username comes back. It's just odd behavior, and I wonder if you might have a setting somewhere that holds the pages in the server cache for too long.
Just a thought. It would explain why it shows so many registered members on for so long with no posts. It could be showing them as still online long after they have left.
9sublime
06-13-2007, 10:18 PM
I also get new post problems. Sometimes ones I've already read come up all the time when I come back on, or they come up once and then when i try and see the rest of them once I've viewed a thread they are gone.
