KOF, you don't have to be a big drama queen and announce to the world that you will no longer be posting here. You can simply leave.
As to your claims that there is "no free spech here", I have a few things to say. I know I've posted all of this to you before but you like to respond with the "no free speech" mantra and simply saying "I'm right, you're wrong." Well I'm right, your wrong is not a very convincing argument. If you are willing (or able) to stand up like an adult and have a rational conversation about how you feel that we are infringing on your free speech, then I would be more than happy to engage you. And if you put forth a sound, well-thought-out argument, I may even change my ways. At any rate, here's what I have to say:
(1) This is a free, private message board. You did not pay to post here and even if you did, there is no expectation of free speech. You agreed to the TOS (terms of service) before posting here:
Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please check the 'I agree' checkbox and press the 'Register' button below. If you would like to cancel the registration, click here to return to the forums index.
Although the administrators and moderators of House of Politics - Political Forum will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of House of Politics - Political Forum, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.
By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
The owners of House of Politics - Political Forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
(2) We have never prohibited free speech here. We allow all points of view. We allow all sorts of weird theories and such. I'm curious as to your thoughts on exactly who's opinions we are censoring. The Moderating staff itself is made up of Admin who is veritably left-wing (though ArmChair would argue that Admin and I are one in the same), myself (a conservative), and 9sublime who falls left of center on most issues.
(3) Moving a thread about 9/11 conspiracy theories or super-sneaky government spy cameras in dragonflies into the conspiracy forum does not constitute censorship. Censorship would be deleting the thread completely. We just move it to the appropriate forum.
(4) I think this is the one that gets you. We have started requiring that some original, personal commentary accompany any copy and paste opening posts of copyrighted material. The chief reason we did this was because we found that the board was getting spammed by the likes of yourself and TruthBringer every few days with 5-10 copy and pasted articles. There are tens of thousands of sites all over the internet where we could go if we were looking for the news or some political articles. We all come here to discuss -- to exchange ideas. Dumbly copying and pasting an article from Alex Jones website hardly constitutes any kind of serious, intelligent discussion.
Furthermore, we have given you more than enough opportunities to provide some commentary to your opening posts but you refuse. 9sublime and I both locked your threads with the offer that if you would send a private message with your original commentary to one of us, we would include it in the opening post and reopen the thread. You instead choose to come here and act like a big drama queen about how you have no free speech. This clearly tells us that you have no real desire to debate the issues you are posting on (because if you did, you would just include some commentary so the thread could remain open) and instead just like baiting the moderators so you can raise a fuss. Reminds me a lot of Roker.

Heh. Every political discussion board has this complaint from time to time. Too bad people don't realize they are (most times) PRIVATELY owned and operated. Or maybe they do, and they still want to whine. *shrug*

Yeah, but this is what gets me. Just because ours is privatley operated, we don't actually restrict freedom of speech.
Just to clear this up, we asked him to
a) Post conspiracies in the conspiracy forum, and moved the threads when he didnt, which isn't censorship, because the thread is still on the forum in its entirety.
b) Post some original commentary with the many copy and pasted articles he was starting threads with (doesn't that sound like encouraging someone to excercise their free speech).
So I'm going to excercise my free speech, the bloke was frankly a moron.

I understand where it is you're coming from as I've been a moderator on a couple of poli sites. Problem is, while no moderator (a good one anyway) sets out to restrict free speech, they are often accused of it simply because they were enforcing the rules.
I just look at it as this: A forum is like a persons home. You are welcome to visit and to have many good and some heated discussions. Start disrespecting that persons private property, then you no longer have the right to be heard.
Regardless, you all seem to run a good board here. :) Hats off for a thankless job of modding.

Haha I don't really watch NFL, its just bastardised rugby to be honest! :)
David Beckham used to be far better, but he was always somewhat overrated just because he could curl a free kick.
Do you lot like soccer, has he made the game bigger? Its a fantastic game, but it just doesn't have the same scorelines as b-ball.
Haha I don't really watch NFL, its just bastardised rugby to be honest!
Yeah Im quite familiar with Rugby. I dont deny thier toughness. This whole thing about American football players not being tough because of the pads is hogwash. The pads prevent players from literally being killed.
Id like to see some rugby players make a crossing route over the middle and see what happens when a linebacker hits em.

I like soccer. I played quite a bit as a kid actually. I just dont follow it that closely. It is a fun game to play. Watching it though on TV doesnt have a ton of appeal to me. I love me a good soccer riot though. Now those are fun to watch.
Has Beckham changed the game in America? Not sure. I dont follow MLS.
As for basketball, I dont follow it at all. I grew up and still play ice hockey.
I like watching it on TV as well. It just doesnt translate very well to TV unless you know what is going on. Seeing hockey in person, especially at the top level, is amazing. So fast and smooth. You can see the entire rink at once and arent trying to follow the game through a straw. Similar to soccer on TV actually.

Yeah, I agree that NFL players aren't weaklings or anything lol. However, I think a rugby player in pads would be pretty ****ing fearsome on their level. What I don't like is some of the rules, not the people who play it. My brother is a rugby fanatic, I think its OK. I prefer soccer (the ORIGINAL football)

Top of the table for you then. Thing about me is that the Premier League has the highest quality matches in the world, but I watch the games on an individual basis because the table bores me.
Its only going to be Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd or with an outside chance Liverpool winning the title. I'd rather follow the Championship (next league down), by the end of the season, the top 7 tend to have 3 points between them and its truely great entertainmant.
By the way, I support Wycombe Wanderers, not the worlds greatest team by a long shot...

I think is part of the appeal of college sports here. I much prefer college basketball to the NBA. Its the same rules, but the game is different.
Same goes in all college vs pro sports.
Interesting to note that the biggest stadiums in America are college football stadiums first. I like pro-football but college is more exciting and dramatic plays. It isnt so polished.

yeah, I think we're going along the same lines here. The quality is better at the highest level, but the entertainment is in a different form at the lower leagues.
So whats the deal with the Parliment. I watch it once in awhile on Cspan. That stuff is damn funny. All the shouting, name calling and interuptions. Much more chaotic than Congress. Do you like that system. Brits dont have a real election for thier Prime Minister. Would you rather you did?

Labour was supposed to be the left wing, working mans party, but now its more right wing, trying to control peoples lives too, that the Conservative party. The conservative party seem to actual value peoples personal freedoms a bit.
I suppose I would like to vote my own prime minister in, but I can't see that changing any time soon.

I would agree, changing the sytem isnt even a reality. Just curious if that is something even thought about there.
OK, to continue my poking fun at the UK. I gotta say this. The English accent. It cracks me up sometimes. British people often narrate our nature shows and they sound intelligent, and nerdy. They could make a Steveox post sound logical on the accent alone.
Then I hear Lennox Lewis former heavyweight champ of the world and could surely kill me with a single blow. I hear him talk and think to myself....yeah I could take him.

England has probably more diversity in its accents than America. The accent you hear when English people turn up on Friends or some other TV program is not how ANYONE in England speaks.
This is an actor (including the voice), but a VERY good one, and I'm being deadly serious. In the UK we have chavs, you may have heard of them, and they honestly do this. People thought this was serious for a while:

Whatever you say. I actually did attempt to play cricket once in high school. It's kind of a funny story.
I was down in the Caribbean with some friends and we saw these guys playing on the beach. Being a cocky high school baseball player, I made a bet with a lady friend that I could go play and be just as good as any of them. Little did I know how hard that damned square handle is to maintain a hold of and with my first (violent) swing the bat flew into the ocean. I couldn't make this up.

I dont dout the story you tell. I had a chance to goof around with a bat at the wickets a few times. I did manage to get ahold of a few for far drives. That whole hitting it off the bounce thing took some getting used to.

I'm sorry Popeye, I just don't think I'll ever get excited about a sport that is so repetitive. I mean, here's what happens: one team dribbles the ball about halfway to 2/3s of the way down the field, the other team takes it down about 2/3s of the field. Repeat ad nauseum.
The exciting part is when the balls goes out of bounds and the once-in-a-blue moon shot on goal.
The one aspect of soccer that I am particularly fond of, aside from the "gooaaal" are the riots. Now that's good television.

I used to feel the same way you do, until I started watching the English Premiership on the satellite, there is so much more to it. It's impossible to recount everything good about it, you have to give it a real chance. The intensity of the Man U-Arsenal rivalry, or even Real Madrid-Barcelona in La Liga, puts anything in the NFL to shame.
3 out of 4 isn't bad. Isn't Sen. Stevens coming up here somewhere? having to do with VECO and renovations to his home among other things? It's news in Seattle too.http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1110AP_Pipeline_Bribe.html?source=rss
There is tons of talk about it. His son Ben Stevens was the AK Senate President at the time. The VECO guy in a previous trial when he was giving testimony was asked which lawmakers he bribed. He mentioned all 5 that have been indicted and Ben Stevens, along with another guy.
As for Uncle Ted. He has lost so much face in this state. In the past he has been beloved. Alaskans would have elected him God if we could have. Now, when he comes up for election again I think in 2010, if he is alive, or not indicted, I dont know if he would win hands down as he has in the past.

The Gunners, arguably, have the best young talent in the world. Who would have thought that after selling Henry they would actually improve, all do to Arsene Wenger. They just play beautiful football. I agree with you on Chelsea, Abramovich's efforts to buy the title sicken me. I was actually glad to see Man U replace them at the top last year. I just checked, Wycombe is down in League 2, how many supporters turn out to one of their matches?
On average I think we get about 5,000 people watching, but if we're playing a good game we can get capacity and see 10,000. Thats pretty average for a league two team.
However, back in 2001, if you watched the FA cup, you would of seen us become the first league two team to reach the semi final, defeating two premiership teams on the way, only to loose to Liverpool 2-1. Giant killers I tell you.

Shouldn't all this be in the off topic forums? not that I care, except from work I'm on a slow slow slow cell modem, so loading pages is quite a chore to find off topic discussion :-S....

In a game just finished, a stoppage time goal by William Gallas gave Arsenal a 2-2 draw with Man. U. I'm both happy and relieved, as it keeps the Gunners at the top of the table. It was a great game which certainly belied the notion that the real football is boring.

Hey sublime, would it be safe to say Steve McClaren is not the most popular man in England?

You can say that again. I haven't shouted at the TV that loud for a while, but when that third goal went in from the Croatians I just laughed.
Thing is though we shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. We should have been 6 points clear of the top by that game.
Hopefully the FA will put in place some quotas on the number of foreign players that can be signed by a club, so that some potential can actually come through the ranks and get decent coaching, and our national side can put up a decent fight sometime soon.
Ah well, I'll be supporting Romania from here on, and hoping that Mourinhio or Shearer get the nod for the job!
