Do you think Hillary should run for President? Why would you vote for her?

Personally i am hoping she doesn't run. I think the democrats need to get some new leaders in. Perhaps someone like Fiengold or Obama. Besides Hillary will have a hard time i think getting votes outside the Northeast and California as (right or wrong) she is simply too polarizing.
That being said if she does run and win the Democratic primary I will probably vote for her simply as i think she would do a better job and i would agree with her on the issues then most of the Republicians.

Hillary Clinton seems to have most of the attributes I expect in a politician but I'm reluctant to get enthusiastic about her. It's nothing to do with her position on issues. It's how she came to be in the position she's in. It seems to me she didn't earn her recognition, she got it by chosing to stand by her man. If there hadn't been the Bill and Monica fiasco I don't think Hillary would have gotten the positive press that launched her. That and she's not from New York. I didn't like the practice with the Kennedys, I like it even less with the Clintons.

I think most republicans are hoping for her to run for just such reasons. It would almost ensure a republican win!

Plumley, she actually has a pretty amazing past and has all the qualifications of a politician. She wasn't only a wife (not that being solely a wife is a bad thing) but also had a powerful career and was member to many organizations.
Will I vote for her? If she wins the nomination then yeah, probably, although I don't know that she's the best one for the job.

I wonder what will happen if she does run. I know the whole "women" issue is long gone, but I wonder if everyone would react the same.

I am guessing that Hillary will bend oiver backward by taking conservative positions to appear "moderate" (thus alienating many dems) and the Republicians will just attack her as ultra- liberal leftist. I don't think the whole women issue will be raised directly (as the Republicians don't want to appear anti-women) but will probably be raised behind the scenes. Though many other nations have had women leaders and they have served effectivly.

I like Hiliary, I think she has proven she recognizes many of the problems that are wrong in our country and so far she hasn't been pandering and trying to come across moderate like many democrats feel the need to.
I think she will run and I don't think it's possible that she could do any worse than our current administration. I think she has a level head on her shoulders and she understands diplomacy.
As a former first lady she already has plenty of recognition in the global community, she's got charm, carisma, is intelligent, and well spoken. She could defintley smooth over some of the ruffled feathers we know have with some of our allies.

I don't know... I just don't.
More random though is the question of Oprah in 2008... lol
People are actually trying to coerce her into running.

Personally, I'd love to see a cross partisan ticket with Hillary and Colin Powell.
Now there would be an unbeatable team. :))

Now I must say, that is an interesting thought. They would certainly make an interesting pairing.

I heard that one too on the news yesterday, and I was a little surprised. I don't think Oprah would get my vote...she doesn't even get my viewing for her show, so why would I want her to run the country?

I can't see her making a serious bid for the White House. As for Colin joining her - I'd expect to see the pigs flying first.

I think she is a highly capable politician and statesperson. However, I also think that 2008 is going to be an election that makes or breaks America. I think it would be fantastic, and essential that the United states have a female president in the near future, but as others have mentioned I think it's too soon. This country is horribly divided and I think the Democrats need to be both cautious and ambitious in this election.
That the country is horribly divided is an interesting observation- not because it hasn't been made before but because of what it refers to. I cannot be sure as to the extent of this percieved polarisation between the Dems and Reps and their various social factions, but there has been a sizeable amount of literature written on their purported opposition and, typically, complete lack of engagement over topics of disagreement. My question would be just how could this be fixed, since the very nature of the disagreements to me seem to be in the vein of fundamental issues that have bugged western civilisation for the last few centuries.

No, this women needs to stay away from governments of all kind...but, if she ran for the democratic party, I'd vote for her.....I hate democrats...but I'd vote for her since she isn't a republican.

Could you Explain this for me a little? Why do you feel that way, I don't get what you're reasoning is.

Time to bring this thread back up again.
Do you think Hillary will even win the Democratic nomination? I'm not so sure just yet.

I think it is a strong possibility. Regardless, I think the Dems are going to win in 2008. She doesn't excite me. Then again, no current politician does.

I wouldn't vote Hillary just because I don't like her. I don't like the way she got into the Senate, and don't think she has the country's best interest at heart. I think she just wants the power, not thinking that she could actually do the country any good. I don't think she's done New York any good, either, for that matter.

As a New Yorker, I'll honestly say that I'm not sure whether I like her or not. The fact that I can't think of anything she has done for my region (Central and Upstate) doesn't help. Not saying she hasn't done anything; she probably has, but I sure can't think of it!

I'm just thinking of the politicians from my area. I know the things they've done. I try to keep up with what they're doing, and often send emails to ask questions, let them know where I stand on an issue, ask them to support or not support certain bills. I can't see Hillary being receptive to people's opinions.

Resurrecting this thread because...well, Hillary has finally officially announced her intentions to run for prez in 2008. Her website is all set up:

Apparently, she has Obama's support.

So she finally made the announcement, huh?
Question for New Yorkers - how much time will she be expected to dedicate to her responsibilities to New York while her campaign machine gears up?

I was wondering when she would announce her candidancy. I wonder who she will have as her running mate if she gets that far? I know she has been making the rounds this week on the news stations so I figured it was coming anyday now.

I don't think she is all that great. I don't see the appeal. Of course, I feel that way about most politicians. I just hope that people who support her do so for her political views and their belief in her ability to carry them out rather than it being about time we got a female in the oval office doing more than blowjobs.

I personally won't vote for Hillary, for any reason. I don't trust her. I keep thinking back to all of the Whitewater stuff. I don't trust her to tell the truth any more than I thought her husband was telling the truth with the Lewinski situation. I'm fine with the idea of a woman in the oval office, I just won't vote for HER to be the first one.
Do you trust anybody to tell the truth?

I dont like the idea of hilary winning...shes the backbone of "The Shadow Party" uprising to power i think.

I would vote for her just because I like her! I thin k she can actually mean a real change in politics where many people will get better benefits and better jobs, making America a better country. I trust her. That's why I'll vote for her!

Im curious about what would happen if Hillary gets elected president. In a book that i am currently reading it talks about her becoming a acomplise to helping The Shadow Party rise. The main goal of The Shadow Party is to destroy the Demoratic Party. But recently George Soros, who is an exteme radical supporter and financer, has been attacking George bush. The Shadow Party is trying to destroy the Government, to re-build a new one. And frankly i dont think that re-building a new government anytime soon is necessary at this point in time.

I dont think the US is ready for a woman president. She may win the DEM. election but i dont think she will win presidency.

I just can't imagine us having a female president. Just seems wrong to me...
I think Dems are trying to count on appealing to the fact that Hillary's a woman. If she gets the nod, everyone on the left side of the aisle will be saying stuff like "It's time to show the world...blah blah blah."
I'm not the world's biggest Michael Crichton fan, but I think he had it right when one of his characters (talking about filling an upper-level corporate position) said
"what I realized during this very interesting week is that I have probably focused too much on breaking the glass ceiling, finding a woman to run things here, when I should have been looking for the best person to run things here"
I believe that there will be a woman president one day, but I think Hillary is too polarizing, not because she's a woman, but because she's a Clinton.

I totally agree. The Clinton's have had their share of hidden agendas for quite some time. I'm not saying that they are the only ones, but I don't trust one word that woman says. It's a power struggle for her simply put.
Hillary stated a position! After her stumble in the debate a couple of weeks ago, she finally made a statement today that "as President" she would not support drivers licenses for illegal immigrants. This couldn't be because there's another debate coming up, could it?
