Immigrant Mayor Opposes Illegal Immigrants in His City

Do something about it?

You mean, let's blame the Democrats for a situation that has been going on for seventy years now?

Let's blame then for amnesty, too, and the flood of illegals that brought in, what say ye?

I got a better idea --- instead of pissing and moaning about who did what to whom, or whose fault it is, or who is using the kids as a political pawn, why don't we insist that our legislators take immediate action? I'm in favor of the train solution -

Good luck with that.

The wealthy donors to campaigns don't want illegal immigration stopped.

Categorically untrue .... but a convenient Democrat dodge.
and, of course, you can find facts to dispute it.

It appears since you called it a "Democrat dodge" that you buy the nonsense that some of the Republicans are trying to sell, that they're all for securing the border, but the Democrats won't go along.

But, history proves otherwise as you surely know.

Maybe - just maybe - you would like to peruse the 5 immigration bills, passed by the Republican House, but blocked by the Democratic Senate ... all of which directly address closing the border.

Nahh, I didn't think so .... facts are such troubling things, ain't they?

Yes, they are, like the fact that the Republicans were in power not so long ago, and did squat to end illegal immigration, or perhaps that those bills you speak of were passed knowing that they had zero chance of ever becoming law, or that the only amnesty bill in recent memory was signed into law by a Republican president.

Wasn't one of them the so called "border fence?" Is anyone really serious about that boondoggle, or do they simply yammer about it to fool the voters into thinking that they're against illegal immigration?

Its clear that government has no interest is halting illegal immigration and why should it ?
Its helping keep SSA like solvant as the funds the illegals pay in never get paid iut to them. Ditto Medicare etc.
Citizens do not like it as its recognized as hurting wages and well, illegal.
If the administration refuses to negotiate what would you have congress do ? Sending their platform is their only option.
Trying to blame congress when it is the president who will not negotiate is simply wrong and transparantly so.

Except that the Congress hasn't sent a bill to the WH to reform immigration.

In fact, the last bill Congress did pass regarding immigration was the amnesty bill back in the mid '80s.

One body of congress has passed legislation. The other body has chosen to ignore it instead of forming a confrence to negotiate a compromize as longstanding tradition would have done.
Obstruction is a dem thing.

Oh, sure, it's a Dem thing. That's right. It's also a Rep thing.
And those bills sent to the Senate, are they for real, or are they proposals for an expensive boondoggle that wouldn't work anyway?

And what of dem bills ? Are they for real ir are the propisals for an expensive boondoggle thay wouldn't work anyway ?

Now that the senate actually did sonething maybe confrence will occur. However it does nit appear they much want it to as BOwants what he wants and attempt to score points while leaving congress out if having to be tagged with an unpopular decision.
The new politics as usual.

Most likely the latter. Right off hand, the so called "border fence" idea is the only one I can recall having been proposed by anyone.

The Senate actually did what again?
The new politics as usual.

Yep.
