IMO its just the beginning of another dot com bubble. Social networking will last until people realize that privacy has benefits far beyond being a social butterfly with thousands of strangers knowing all about you.

And stuff on the internet is permanent so enjoy "social networking" and posting your face all over the universe.

ask the two kids I reported here who were sent home to the UK from here for a couple tweets that bobbed up.

big brother is watching this.

Well I never really thought about it like that, but I might think a little differently. When you say when people realize security concerns, and I think that companies will arise that deal with these issues, and that is a new market. That is the way it is supposed to go, anyways, but to what degree that actually happens I guess is open for debate and interpretation. Interesting to think about, though, and thanks for sharing.

I take security very seriously and I only share information with reputable sources; this does NOT included social media.
It is advisable to set social media profile that is private and can only be viewed with your permission.

Learning how to protect your privacy is key these days and it becomes hard work. I do have social media accounts, and the ones with my real name are private. It wasn't always like this, but recently it has become worse with google+ violating your privacy even though they have changed things it doesn't stop the harm an automatic account did once you had a gmail account.

I rarely use anything with my real name any longer, and I don't blame people for using alternate names to protect themselves these days.

I think a lot of people who are pasting every single aspect of their lives all over social media are only thinking of the short term. They haven't really stopped to try and realize just how serious the consequences of that are going to be. I personally don't like the whole world knowing my business, and I only use social media mainly for work and communicating with only close friends and family. Privacy is way too important to me.

I mainly agree but for me I have nothing to do with work on them. Strickland friends and family. Good way to keep in touch with my cousins in SoCal.
