Brexit takes its toll

Sony is moving its headquarters from London to the Netherlands, the new entity will begin operations in April while the U.K. arm will continue to manage product imports and sales. To put Englishmen mind at ease they assure "no personnel to be relocated".

Panasonic is moving to the Netherlands, too, "due to tax issues as a result of the UK's decision to leave the EU".

Dyson moved its headquarter to Singapur. Dyson? James Dyson, a firm believer in Brexit, says the move to Singapore has nothing to do with Brexit. Hypocrisy? Of course not! And the vacuum cleaners are produced in Malaysia since 2003... Relocating the HQ will not cut staffing, the firm insisted.

Barclays has chosen the Irish capital Dublin as its post-Brexit European hub.

Drinks giant Diageo is moving its vodka production out of Scotland to Italy.

Goldman Sachs closed some of its hedge fund operations in London and moved the staff to New York.

Lloyd’s of London, the world’s biggest specialist insurance market, announced it would be seeking a new Brussels-based subsidiary.

Smiffy’s "have no choice but to protect our business by moving our headquarters to the EU."

So....

As of 10th September 2018, 35% of the companies monitored by Ernst Young had publicly confirmed to move some of their operations and/or staff from the UK to Europe.

Is anyone watching the new HBO movie "Brexit: The Movie"? It is very scary how campaigns are micro targeting people by understanding the fears and desires of each individual and directing different targeted ads to each person. Some reviewers say there is a stretch in reality, but I don't know enough about it to judge.

That is the wave of the future. Freedom of choice still exists but is dangerously undermined by research groups in corporations like Cambridge Analytica. They are for hire for any group with deep pockets that want to manipulate peoples thinking.

What we're seeing with Brexit is the British government injecting fear into the people. The government is playing a game with the EU, a game to determine who has the strongest core. The EU has the vision to destroy Britain and make it pay for daring to leave the EU by triggering Article 50 (the article that the British wrote). The EU needs to understand that those who voted to leave the EU want to leave outright; they didn't have the reverse of the ballot paper with terms and conditions.

If the British Prime Minister had anything about her, she wouldn't be bowing to her masters in the EU; after all, she did vote to remain in the EU, so I wonder how she can command the ship out of the EU port. The Prime Minister cannot negotiate a deal with the EU, she hasn't got the courage to tell them no and walk away; this would force the EU to plead with Britain to discuss a deal - the EU needs Britain as they are one of their largest customers.

Britain should focus on revitalizing its own industries, and lighting the fire for British manufacturers to set-up to show the EU that Britain is self-sufficient. The EU mistakingly thinks that Britain needs the EU, however, it couldn't be more the other way around; the EU desperately needs Britain.

Make no mistake; if Britain makes a success of Brexit (however unlikely at this stage), France, Germany and more will follow suit. France is struggling under the leadership of Macron, a President that is fighting against his own people; Germany is tired of refugees entering the country and raping their women and children, which has forced the citizens of Germany to defend themselves against these vermin. Something which Britain also has an abundance of - Muslim rape gangs!

So, Brexit takes its toll? Yes, @Walter, you're right; Brexit is taking its toll, as the British government isn't standing up and representing the nation on the world stage. Shame on the British government; but, they will come unstuck as the people will unite and fight against a government who doesn't care about them; the only thing the British MP's care about is their huge salaries.

British politics as it currently stands will fall, and it will fall to national pride and National Socialism. The current system is corrupted and broken, and its demise is inevitable, if not imminent.

Have not seen that movie - but I work in politics (on the campaign side) - have done everything from City Council races to a (failed) Presidential Super PAC. There are a lot of things you can do on the micro-targeting side. It can be prohibitively expensive to actually really do unique ads for every individual person (I'll have to watch the movie to see what they are claiming) - but that type of thing absolutely does happen - the message will absolutely change based on who you talking to.

I have done something in the past that tailor-makes scripts for different persona. If a person falls in categories x, y,and z, three different pre-written short pertinent scripts are put in the post to the person. That keeps the post short and relevant to the reader. I don't know what was done in Brexit nor Cambridge Analytica, but my problem was in automatically defining the persona. The rest is easy.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, UK's richest man, moves to Monaco to save £4bn in tax. As a Brexit supporter, maybe he didn't know what "Brexit" actually means and planned for his personal Brexit?

I don't know enough about UK politics, but why can't another referendum try the whole vote again now that citizens see the quagmire they are in? Is it too late? Would the EU be cooperative?

Because the Brexiteers might lose, and the tories split apart.

Our remainer Prime minister (UK) and remainer MPs tried to sabotage Brexit and nearly succeeded, because they betrayed democracy and the majority that voted in the referendum for leave. Thanks to Nigel Farage's Brexit party,Brexit may happen.Tomorrow the 23rd of May myself and million like me will vote for the Brexit party in the Euro elections. The Brexit party are going to pulverise the remain parties, this is what they get for betraying the majority and democracy.
