Now the nanny government is moving into your house - because you are too stupid (or poor) to get it fixed

Of course this is another opportunity for them to spread the wealth.

Mold? Leaky Roof? Clutter? Obama Administration Says All Americans Must Have 'Healthy Housing'

This week, the Obama administration released a "bold new vision for addressing the nation's health and economic burdens caused by preventable hazards associated with the home."
The new strategy "unifies" federal efforts to advance healthy housing -- "demonstrating the connection between housing conditions and residents’ health."

The federal partners pushing healthy housing include the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Surgeon General, and Energy Department.

HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan says the federal government must do "everything we can to ensure that individuals and families have a healthy place to call home." He said the strategy "will help the federal government unify action (on) controlling and preventing major housing-related exposures and hazards."

I wonder if I'm inhaling and exhaling to suit them ?

This could be quite the windfall for government agencies by fining homeowners and landlords. They could force you to upgrade everything from roofing, painting, flooring, appliances etc. Utilities are already putting in "smart" meters, where they can control how much energy use use.

I wonder how this got past Valerie Jarrett, as she's a known slumlord.

Probably her idea. You KNOW there will be tax benefits for low-income housing. Cha-ching !

Absolutely......gotta spread that wealth. People who live in the burbs need to pony-up for those in the inner cities. Plays right into this little plan;

Burn Down the Suburbs?
Not exactly, but Obama is already working to get rid of them.

President Obama is not a fan of America’s suburbs. Indeed, he intends to abolish them. With suburban voters set to be the swing constituency of the 2012 election, the administration’s plans for this segment of the electorate deserve scrutiny. Obama is a longtime supporter of “regionalism,” the idea that the suburbs should be folded into the cities, merging schools, housing, transportation, and above all taxation. To this end, the president has already put programs in place designed to push the country toward a sweeping social transformation in a possible second term. The goal: income equalization via a massive redistribution of suburban tax money to the cities.

Sustainable Housing and Communities sounds nice doesn't it?

That also plays into this little plan;

DEMOCRATS AGAINST U. N. AGENDA 21

Perhaps this is an effort to build up power for obamacare. On the surface it is simply a power grab to give the federal gov the power that local governments have had all along (somone mentioned building codes) but this goes beyond jusdt having a fed regulate building codes because it links housing conditions with overall health.

Going down this road grants the fed one more power. the need for a healthy population is the justification for an ever growing larger list of powers.

Oh? You do not believe in a healthy population? I was correct. Americans ARE stupid. Imagine PROFITING from one's suffering?

What makes you think I do not want a healthy population? I suspect I already know the answer to that but go ahead and let us know anyway.

Profit from suffering...

Anytime a person has a need that is not fulfilled he is experiencing some degree of suffering. If he is hungry he is suffering. If he is not sleeping he is suffering. if he is sick he is suffering. If he needs clothes he is suffering. Any need at all that is unfullfilled causes suffering.

If one sells food, sleep aids, medicine, clothing, or anything at all that meets a need then one is profiting from someone's suffering. What line of work are you in? Does your work provide anything at all of value to someone? If it does then you are profiting by helping some avoid suffering. Good for you.
