I don't post these as often as I used too because, to be quite honest, Republicans getting busted for sex crimes happens so often it's almost become commonplace. However, I don't want anyone to forget just what the party of family values is really all about. So, with that thought in mind, I present:

State rep charged with assaulting teen

POST-DISPATCH JEFFERSON CITY BUREAU
08/06/2008

JEFFERSON CITY -- Missouri state Rep. Scott Muschany, R-Frontenac, was indicted today in connection with a reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on May 17, the day after this year’s Legislative session ended.

The alleged victim is the daughter of a state employee. The girl’s mother and Muschany -– who is married and has two children -- were romantically involved, the woman said.

A Cole County grand jury returned an indictment today charging Muschany with the Class C felony of "deviate sexual assault." The indictment identifies the victim only by initials. It says that on May 17, Muschany "had deviate sexual intercourse" with the girl, "knowing that he did so without" her consent.

Muschany, 42, was booked into the Cole County Jail today at 2:50 and he was released after posting a $5,000 bond. If convicted, Muschany faces a fine of up to $5,000 and a prison term of up to 7 years.

Muschany has been seen by some as a rising star in the conservative wing of the Republican Party. He ran for majority floor leader in the House last year, but lost to state Rep. Steve Tilley, R-Perryville.

Muschany was chairman of three House committees. This year, he was involved in the push to approve tax credits for autistic children who want to attend private schools. In 2006, Muschany was a co-sponsor of legislation that toughened sex offender laws.

This guy and his wife were even licensed foster parents. What is it with Pubs and sex crimes anyway? I think it's fairly obvious many are attempting to hide their deviancy by becoming conservative family values Republicans. Either that or being a right wing Republican encourages one to engage in deviant behavior.

Why don't you take this sort of crap to a gossip site? If you don't want to discuss politics, why not just stick with the National Inquirer?

Of course the difference is, we don't start whining about it being a vast-left-wing conspiracy. Nor do we support those that are criminals.

Lefties, tend to justify everything when it's their guy. How's John Edwards doing by the way? I hear he's been very dedicated to his cancer-stricken wife.

John Edwards’ reluctance to refute allegations that he had an affair and child with his former videographer could jeopardize his potential role as a Democratic National Convention speaker and surrogate for his party’s presumptive nominee.

“If he’s going to be a spokesman on working-class issues … in the fall, he’s going to have to get it resolved. It ain’t going away,” said Democratic strategist and FOX News contributor Bob Beckel.

Democratic convention hosts did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but Beckel, a former convention planner, said the lack of a categorical denial by Edwards of an affair and love child could hamper his ability to speak out on poverty and campaign for Obama in the lead-up to the November election.

Beckel said Edwards probably wouldn’t be featured too prominently at the convention anyway, but that his silence raises suspicion.

“Let’s put it this way, if you believe perception rules in politics … the fact that it has not been knocked down raises more questions every day. … Then people say, ‘Why isn’t it knocked down if it’s not there?’ … I would not want to necessarily be in the Edwards’ bedroom in the morning, you know, that is not what I would consider a safe zone.”

Edwards denied the allegations when they first flared late last year. But in recent weeks he and his inner circle have clammed up, either trashing the tabloid nature of the stories or refusing to answer reporters’ questions.

He dodged questions on the matter from FOXNews.com last Wednesday at an AARP conference in Washington, D.C., and will not return calls placed by his local newspaper in North Carolina.

Granted, I think this is one thing, and sexual assault of a 14 year old girl is a bit different. That said, there are scumbags in both parties.

As someone pointed out; Republicans kick these people out while Demcorats give these people promotions and standing ovations.

Of course, backing the candidate that you have - totally lacking in substance - its no wonder you feel the only way to win is going negative on the competition. The politics of "Change" strikes again... I thought the days of slash and burn politics were over, that Obama was such a positive figure that there was no need to go negative... guess not.

Just what is the link between liking teenage girls and being a Republican?

Is your point that it would be OK for a Democrat to **** a 14 year old, since Democrats aren't the "party of family values?"

Is it your point that Democrats would never do such a thing?

Or is it your point that you're such a partisan Democrat that you search for Republicans who have done something that they shouldn't?

Maybe we need a tit for tat thread, in which Democrats can post some rotten thing that a Republican has done, and Republicans can respond by posting something rotten that a Democrat has done. Whoever runs out of rotten things first loses.

Let me know when you're done.

They do? I must have missed it, perhaps you could tell me just when the Republicans kicked Larry Craig out of the Senate.

For that matter, House leadership covered up Mark Foley's known attraction to young boys before it finally became public.

Do you seriously want to compare Larry Craig with someone like Barney Frank? If you do, I'd be glad to have that discussion...

Last I checked, Craig was due for his next day in court Sept. 10th... He's NOT running for re-election, he has come under fire from Republicans inside and outside Washington TO GO and all of it has resulted in his RESIGNATION which is due to be turned in Sept. 1st.

Whats Barney up to? Too bad he never resigned...We're not talking footsies in the bathroom, Frank got caught HAVING SEX WITH AN UNDERAGE PAIGE and still remains in Washington to this day!

I don't believe it Popeye and I never did believe Larry Craig was looking for a blowjob in that washroom. He's got a wide stance and who can blame him for that?

I could be wrong but Frank never was accused with having a sexual relationship with a minor, his problem involved an escort service being run out of his home.

Whereas someone like Mark Foley engaged in sexually explicit communications with at least one congressional page. Conduct that was originally covered up with the full knowledge of Dennis Hastert and certainly contributed to the public souring on the Republican Congress.

And some even started suggesting that Hastert likes little boys too!

Disgusting! To think that covering up pedophilia and havina an extra wide stance are crimes.

More commie plots to discredit conservatives!

Mark Foley resigned. I wager under pressure too.
Larry Craig has submitted his resignation.

In both cases, the majority of Republicans support both of these characters being removed. That's who I'm talking about, the base, the grass roots people. Although I'm not a Repug, if you talk to the Republicans here, they support people like these being removed or stepping down.

Now, on the other hand, look at Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, or Barney Frank. All of whom have done some incredible stuff, and yet their political base would have no problem with them murdering and still get re-elected. That's a short list too.

The difference isn't about any conspiracy. Just be honest... you're just happy as hell that it was a 14 year old girl and not another man as usual.:D

None of that discredits conservatives. It discredits those specific people. If the actions of individuals is broad brushed on an entire movement, then you support tyranny and murder. Stalin, Pol Pot, and the list goes on.

Red herring. The sign of a bankrupt argument. Both are bad. Both should be removed. The end.
