Are Europeans Pedophiles?

In Europe the legal age for sex is really low - like 14 in Germany, Portugal, Italy and Austria. In Spain its 13!!!1 This means a 40 year old man can legally have sex with a 14 year old as long as it is consensual (without coercion etc).

Does this mean the Europeans are pedophiles? Does it mean it's legal to be a pedophile in Europe?

I agree. A 14-17 year old who has sex with a 40 year old man will be traumatized for life, there is no way anyone over 25 can 'love' a teenager. They just want to abuse them. Of course if it's an 18 year old it's OK because then their brains are more developed, that's why it's legal for 18 year olds to be in porn films where they get gang banged.

Actually a lot of 18 year olds like 'cougars' or 'milfs'. It's like a craze or something. But you're right - no teenager would ever consent to sex with a person over 25, even if they were physically attractive. Thats why it's called statutory rape.

I think 14 is legal in some states here. Kind of a silly thread.

I agree that those limits in Europe probably do not mean that a 40 yr old could have sex with a 13 year old.

Here in the us it is legal for a 16 yr old to have sex with her 16 yr old bf but she must be 18 to be with an older guy. It is still prbably harmful for a 18 yr old girl to hook up with a much older and presumably more savvy and powerful man, but hey it is her life to screw up as she wishes.

Prior to the last 100 years in this country it wasn't uncommon for men to have a lot younger wives. Especially if he had already lost a wife or two. He had children that needed taken care of. Same for young women who became widows. I suspect there were a lot of marriages that were more for practical purposes than for love. You see this all the time when you work on genealogy.

I had one ancestor that had married three sisters.

age of consent is 18 here. pretty young for many teens who are little different from 13 year olds.
