This story has not recieved much publicity here. There are possible depsits of natural gas in several locations. Some are in the desert as it was oces cover by an inland sea. However It would be very expensive to mine because o he distance, Coober Pedy already has mines for opals.

I am not sure what you mean by the EPA. If yo scan0005.jpg u mean environment controls we do have them here and the Greens are very strong. No mining would be allow if it damage the environment.

Aus,,You dont have the type of Media like we do here. Like CBS,ABC,NBC CNN And MSNBC are very liberal. They very hard against the GOP but they never jump on the DNC. And you dont have Blacks,Latino and women problem voters in Australia like we do here.

Most countries with bias in the Media. Sometimes they are beat up like your picture. My picture is also take at Cooby Pedy. It is not a strange town although it is the desert. The opal mining is underground.
Our main newspaper chain is owned by Murdoch who runs Sky TV. It is very bias against the Labor government. The other newspaper group and TV is less bias Yet any fault in the government State or Federal is displayed on the front page. But this is not bias as our State Government is non labor. Politics is a hard game and the media regularly attack the woman Prime Minister and her partner. He was in trouble today because he recommended men have a prostrate examination by a female Asian doctor.
We have few Blacks or Latino but plenty of Asians. We have problem with refugees Asians coming here by boat. However being such a rich country compare to them it is hard to stop them.

Australia is known to be resource rich and a WA woman, who owns an iron-ore empire, was named as the world's richest women last year and the discovery of oil will add to the nation's high per capita GDP.

Australia is rich in minerals not necessary oil. Rinehart made her money from iron ore and coal not oil. She is so rich and powerful she is trying to take over our second Newspaper chain Fairfax. She does not like paying taxes and is hostile to the Labor Government.

Astralia finds it cheaper to get its oil from Sadi Arabia than locally from untested desert locations.
However we do have plenty of natural gas from the Timor sea.
