More Solid Proof That Obamacare Is Working

Recent data provided by the nation’s largest health insurance companies reveals that a provision of the Affordable Care Act – or Obamacare – is bringing big numbers of the uninsured into the health care insurance system.

For starters, every one of the young immortals we add to the rolls of the insured is one less young adult who will turn to the emergency room to fix a broken leg and then find themselves unable to pay the bill – leaving it to the rest of us to pay the tab.

of having a major illness , not being able to afford it, and not only ending up in major debt but screwing his credit for years and years....all because he got sick and worked for the wrong company...

But the right would just look at that and say...but how does that effect me?

Did you get some guarantee when you were born that no one else got? Are you special in any way?

<<mod edit. No personal insults, please>>

I care more about people in Africa who are being killed daily by their own and the Muslims that you love so dearly, than I do you. Now, please explain your problem with that. After all, I'm sure they are NOT Christians, so you should applaud me.

Because of a provision that extends HC coverage to "children" up to 26 years of age, the "big numbers" (600,000) are not, themselves, paying customers... They were simply added to their parents insurance policy. I'm sure that's why my insurance premiums went up about 33% this year, to offset the additional costs to the insurance company.

Why do you believe your health care tab, or that of someone else, is my responsibility? If I rack up a bill, it's my responsibility to pay it... Just as it's the responsibilty of the dead beat with a broken leg to pay his bill. I really don't understand people like you who believe that the money in my wallet is yours, not mine.

Why do you believe your health care tab, or that of someone else, is my responsibility?

Because he thinks everyone else is responsible for his life. He doesn't want to have to "pursue" happiness, that might take work on HIS part. He wants the result after YOU do the work.

most uninsured...mostly the south red states..( worse is Texas)
Lol, you do realize that their are a boatload of people who don't have auto insurance here too don't you? Why should they? They just slip BACK across the border. Yep, you must include the FACT that there are certain types of people who just don't care about providing for themselves, POS. That would be the type of person whom you champion for.

Why should they get insurance. They just want a better life, and for you to pay for it. Got a problem with that one?

As for the rest of the south? You also realize that the majority of "religious" nuts in the south are Baptist and guess what POS, they probably don't look much like YOU!

You should bother to actually go to someplace and see the a TRUTH.

Lol. Let's see how that insurance thing stays in the east when the unions are destroyed as they should be.

so, you think that the editors and writers of Forbes Magazine need mental help?

No, but the author Rick Unger and you do.

Firstly, the title of the piece is most disingenuous. There have been numerous articles and reviews of Obamacare that show it is very harmful (amazing you would not post one:rolleyes:). To claim there is MORE evidence it is working, is absurd and likely shows his and your bias.

Many employers are afraid of it and the result is a dampening on hiring.

When you pass legislation written by socialists that is 2,000 pages of rules and regulations, even a child knows the consequences will be damning. And, why do you fail to see that ANOTHER big lib entitlement program is the wrong approach at a time when our national debt and government obligations are skyrocketing? I suppose you believed BO when he said Obamacare will actually SAVE money...hahahahaha......

One thing you must remember, which even at your advanced age you have failed to learn, is the left wing media will lie or misrepresent to promote leftist policies and politicians. Remember their motto - the ends justify the means...if you do this, you will be much better informed.

OBAMACARE FACTS AND FIGURES…
- Those who gain coverage will be enrolled in Medicaid, the welfare program for the poor, or in a health plan designed by the government.
- The millions who remain uninsured will still depend on overcrowded emergency rooms for routine care.
- New taxes, penalties, and fees resulting from the new law will decrease the amount of investment in the economy. This reduced investment will in turn lead to a decline in productivity, causing the economy to produce $706 billion less worth of goods and services.
- On February 10, 2011, CBO Director Doug Elmendorf testified before the House Budget Committee that Obamacare will result in an estimated 800,000 fewer U.S. jobs.
- Obamacare provides $125 million per year for school-based health centers and a new program to reduce teen pregnancy, with no requirement to reduce abortions.
- These federally funded projects deny parents any knowledge about the services their children receive.
- Nearly one-quarter of all seniors rely on Medicare Advantage, the private health care option in Medicare. However, Obamacare makes such deep cuts to that program that half of those covered will no longer be able to keep the coverage they have.
- New taxes on drug companies ($27 billion) and medical device makers ($20 billion), as well as new reporting requirements and regulations imposed on physicians, will make access to health care and services more costly and difficult for seniors under Obamacare.
- Obamacare expands government’s role as the primary payer of health care by adding 18 million people to the Medicaid program, which on average reimburses doctors only 56 percent of the market rate for medical procedures.
- Due to increased regulation and less reimbursement, 66 percent of doctors are considering no longer accepting government health programs.
- By 2019, over 80 million people will be on the Medicaid program—requiring billions of dollars from state budgets and taxpayers.
- Twenty-one State Attorneys General have filed suits to protect their citizens from being forced, in violation of the Constitution, to purchase government-approved health insurance.
- $52 billion in new taxes will be imposed on businesses by mandating that employers provide health insurance.
- New IRS reporting requirements and other business-related taxes and regulations will also penalize growth and success.
- Obamacare adds a trillion dollars in new health care spending, creating prohibitively expensive new entitlements for long-term care and a subsidy scheme that discourages work and penalizes marriage.
- Obamacare will impose about a half a trillion dollars in new taxes and will increase the deficit by $500 billion over the next 10 years, a massive burden on the next generation of taxpayers.

That is just a short list of the terrible consequences of Obamacare. And yet amazingly, some Americans do not know this...see the OP.

Every single person in the country already had health care but 46 million did not have insurance (for at least one day).

So yes it is working great if the plan is to make more customers for insurance companies.
