Gov. Gavin Newsom offers unemployment benefits to TSA workers, defying Trump administration

In a public display of defiance, Gov. Gavin Newsom encouraged Transportation Security Administration employees to apply for unemployment insurance through the state after the Trump administration warned California that the workers are ineligible for the benefits during the federal shutdown.

Why shouldn't all of the employees laid off by Trump be eligible for unemployment insurance? Other employees furloughed through no fau

Trump laid off no one.
Donkeys refuse to negotiate on a budget passed by the House.
They are furloughed not laid off. Not the same thing.
If they take the money, they quit and are not eligible.

Donkeys?

Trump was proud to shut down the government.

No money is donkey decision. Trump can make some decisions as to what must still happen. Congress writes the checks.

The "donkeys" have already sent several bills to the "elephants" in the Senate to re open the government.

The elephants are afraid to stand up to Trump, who really isn't an elephant or a donkey.

They wanted their cake and eat it too.
Firstly, the House passed the budget with money for the wall. The dems in the Senate filibustered (wish they still had to stand there and talk) so when the money ran out had to turn some lights out and furlough the civil servants.

They created the conundrum and passing other bills didnt solve anything so they were ignored.
Now they have caved and a vote is coming up Thursday.
Could have done this in December uf Nan hadn't decided it was more important to create theater.

The Senate will vote on Thursday on a pair of bills that could end the month-long partial shutdown of the federal government– if passed.

The first bill, a Republican-backed measure, would meet Donald Trump’s demand for a $5.7bn wall along the southern border in exchange for temporary protections for young undocumented immigrants. The second would extend funding for the agencies that are currently closed through to 8 February.

The first one is exactly what Trump proposed and Pelosi said was a non starter. The second goes until February 8, and then what? Can the stalemate be ended by then?

Link ? It is just current events.

And now that Chuck has come to realize he cant afford to satisfy Nan"s ego we move forward without her.

Will they sort things out in time ?

Who knows ? Its entirely possible since there was no real reason for it not to before. But the wall can move forward.

I don't see the wall moving forward now. Trump offered temporary amnesty for dreamers in return for this 5.7 billion for the wall, but the Democrats said that's a non starter. I don't see them any closer to an agreement than they were on day 1.
