Great news! Unemployment "down" to 9.5% thanks to Obama!

The U6 Unemploymet rate is already > 16% according to BLS.

But even that is undercounting or a guess.
How do they count discouraged or displaced workers
that are illegals or can't or won't answer a phone call or survey?

I believe its already closer to 20% and getting worse not better.

It's called CHANGE!

Andy,

I just wanted to warn you that if you continue to own pocket like that, Obama may step in and nationalize him.

LOL! Hey, he's a salesmen. I don't have high expectations of him.

Well, I've just gotten to the point where I'm a bit sick and tired of people applying complete and total double standards all the time.

The left on this forum seem to only have one consistent view... Obama good, Bush bad.

They'll spend 15 posts complaining about what Bush did, and then when Obama does the exact same thing.... they complain that Bush did it!

They are all hypocrites. They are all bigots. They are all zealots. They have no honor, nor morality, nor standards, no logic, no rational thought. And from here on out, I'm going to call them exactly what they are.

Thanks to the brilliant leftists idiots on this forum, we have been preoccupied with more important topics like how Sarah Palin signs a letter, or the latest tabloid sex scandal.

However on the apparently unimportant policy front, the latest numbers show that not only has has unemployment reached the 9% mark Obama promised it would never hit, but it has no surpassed that to 9.5% as of June.

But don't worry, Obama hasn't left us with nothing. He has successfully obliterated Bush's record deficit spending, with a new $1.84 Trillion dollar deficit. The previous record was $445 Billion.

The deficit is so high, and debt increasing so much, that now foreign companies are worried about investing in the US. But that hasn't stopped the ambitions of Obama.

Not content with is current list of failures, Obama has vowed to fight on for more unfunded spending for a socialized health care so that he can kill off people while taxing them to death, and leaving the debt to their decedents.

That's nothing. You assholes are dragging us down with you. How the US dollar is once again worth more than the Canadian dollar is absolutely staggering. Our financial system is one of the best in the world, yet still the American dollar is 'stronger'. How very ridiculous. We do have a debt, and our current deficit is a direct result of American stupidity, not Canadian policies. Eat **** and die, Yank bastards.

I feel like there is little hope. I work for the almighty government, I probably will always have a job but I am thinking about bills about to pass. I almost have my house paid for but my plan was not always to stay in this house.

If this cap and trade passes, I wont be able to sell my house without making it "green" so that takes away from what I would have used to buy a new house. Buying the new house won’t be affordable because I won’t be able to buy from someone else till they blew a bunch making it "green" and if they do that they will have to sell it for more than I can afford since I will have spent most of my money making my old house "green"

I feel like I am going to be stuck in this place till I die and that is depressing.

I can’t sell sooner because the market sucks.

Ill never be able to save 25 cents if they pass a VAT tax and or increase my energy costs like obama is promising he will do.

That is the stuff that is depressing me.

Let me see. Native. Female. But OF COURSE you work for the government! When was the last time you a White, Anglo-Saxon male working for the government at your level? Hmmm?

Sweetie, a friend of mine has a relative in our OPP. That's Ontario Provincial Police to you, the equivalent of your state troopers. They were taking employment applications, and going through them after having thoroughly tested each applicant, both mental and physical. This relative claimed that EVERY SINGLE WHITE MALE had his application immediately tossed into the garbage can the moment they saw that he was male, EVEN THOUGH ONLY THE WHITE MALES PASSED THE WRITTEN AND PHYSICAL TESTS!! Not a single Black, Native or other minority passed, yet they were given the jobs! Isn't liberalism wonderful sweetie? Mwaaaaaaaaahh. Be content that you have your job BECAUSE YOU ARE NATIVE. I would suggest you never forget it.

Saxon - Canadians cross the boarder ever day to use our US medical specialists and hospitals. Did you know this? Well it's irrelevant.

But, yes the US SITUATION is now helping destroy the Canadian economy also.
Is it our fault if the Canadian government is dumb enough to invest in US debt
AND A BROKEN US ECONOMY?

Canadians will pull their investments out of the US if they are smart!

You lose otherwise, it's called CHANGE!

That's nothing. You assholes are dragging us down with you. We do have a debt, and our current deficit is a direct result of American stupidity, not Canadian policies.

I love how your post fit right in with the topic of discussion. If this is the irrational thought process that Canadians have in general, then I think I can pin point the problem in Canada, and it has nothing to do with economics.

That said, you mention your national debt, but claim that somehow it's the US's fault that you have debt. Now let's think that through a bit. How does debt come to exist? Well, simply put, it's spending more money than you have.

So somehow the US government, went to Canada, and forced your government, to spend more money than it was taking in. Can you cite when such a thing happened? Or what legislation in the US said "Article 1 Section 1, force Canada to spend more money than it collects in taxes" or something similar? Of course not.

Such ridiculous claims are the result of childish thinking, where Billy on the play ground says it's Timmy's fault that Billy fell down because he was running too fast. The sort of immature thinking I had hoped wouldn't be on this forum really.

People need to grow up, and own responsibility for their own actions. Canada has debt because Canada spent to much. No other excuses are required.

Lets see in office 6 months, your looking at a whole 3 months in data, Bill was not signed right away and many parts still need to take effect....So yes lets make judgments on the long term effect of the econ based on 2 freaking months....and put all blame on Obama , I mean its not like Bush can be blamed here all he did was be in charge for all the rest of the time while the econ tanked..

You are idiots in terms of Econ I can see.

That the goals where off 2 months is no abnormal....however I think it showed more how F^&^ we where with the Econ Bush left Him..

Your like people who buy a stock and get pissed if it has performed not as well as you wanted, and want to sell it...after 2 hours.....

You know what it is pocket? They WANT America to fail.

The American people got so sick and fed up with the Republicant fearmongering, smearmongering, hypocritical holier than than thou attitude, and just plain lying they said hey we have to do something. And the elections started reflecting that.

They couldn't hold their neo-con stranglehold on power so now they'll hope & pray that no one can make the problem any better. That way they think they can say... Well yes we screwed everything up before but it still isn't fixed so give us another chance.

It's the great Republicant scam right out of the old playbook.

The problem for them is all the odds are against them. Not only will President Obama's plan help in time but there are 3 other factors. Pent up demand... people need to buy stuff and eventually do. It's a fact people (and markets) often fear change... but it's also fact that as changes become the norm a settling in effect almost inevitably calms worries. And even the regular cyclical nature of economies is on our side.

All these reasons combined are why the failed Republicants are saber rattling so hard so quick.

If they don't do it now... they know the chance will be passing them by.

Simply put it's like this...

The Republicant used car salesmen got this great car in on their lot. It was in great condition and so sporty & fast thay they all drove it, raced it around and just completely trashed it out. But they still had to sell it. So they sold it to the American people saying... My fellow Americans would we lie to you this car a cream-puff! And it was purchased... but it broke down with all kids of mechanical problems while it was leaving the lot.

So not trusting them to do the repairs the American people took their badly broken car to the Obama repair shop. He said WOW there's a ton of all kinds of different things wrong & broken giving you problems here!!! I'll try and fix it but I'm going to need the car for awhile and to be honest I'm not exactly sure how many things are ruined and will have to be replaced until I really tear into it... and it won't be cheap.

Hearing this the Republicant salesmen all immediately lined up along the road screaming over to the car owner... HEY, JUST COME BACK OVER HERE AND WE'LL SELL YOU ANOTHER CAR. THIS TIME WE PROMISE WE WON'T SELL YOU ONE WE KNOW IS COMPLETELY TRASHED... THAT GUY'S RIPPING YOU OFF!

hey now dont bash used car salesmen. I was one of those to, though I sold more new cars, we had open floor so if thats what I had to sell them or they wanted I sold used, if they wanted new, I sold new....works nice when they have unreal ideas of what they can do with what they make...

How can people blame one man for the economic troubles of a nation? Just how much power does the president have, anyway?

Given TARP bailouts, is Obama's plan really different in kind from Bush's? It may be different in scale, but spending our way to prosperity seems to have been the plan all along.

Further, the propensity we seem to have of attributing all of our pain and pleasure to the POTUS is most likely to make Obama a two term president, as there are signs that the economy is getting better. (Yes, there are, despite the abysmal employment numbers).

So, keep on, all those of you who call yourselves "conservatives." Remember this:

Bush was no conservative.

Obama is even more of a spendthrift.

The people don't care about the deficit. Reagan proved that.

If the economy is even marginally better in 2011 than it is now, the Republican Party can forget about making a comeback at least until 2016.

So, keep on. It's all the president, it's all the president (repeat).

PLC1 - Bush was very conservative compared to Obama.

Under Reagan the economy took off.

People do care about the deficit when jobs disappear, which is what has only
started in the US. Many more real jobs will disappear under Obama.

There is no rebound yet and there will not be one under Obama.
Remeber JC?

Given that a president can single handedly bailout multiple failing companies and industries using taxpayer funds without so much as the need for congressional approval, I'd say he has a great deal more power than you're giving him credit for.

Further, the propensity we seem to have of attributing all of our pain and pleasure to the POTUS is most likely to make Obama a two term president, as there are signs that the economy is getting better.
There is a huge difference between signs that the economy is stabilizing and the economy actually 'getting better'.

What would you have them do? Perhaps they should "moderate" by becoming cheerleaders for Obama's policies and join the Democrats in blaming Republicans for every problem we face....

That is how Democrats got power was through superior propaganda, blaming Bush and Republicans for every one of the nations ills and deflecting any responsibility they had for the nations problems.

Reagan was smarter than W. or had better advisers. Reagan timed it to get out and drop the time bomb on Bush #41. That economy was dismal and #41 could not even get re-elected.

It was best under President Clinton a Democrat... he made both Bush administrations look terrible... pathetic... economically.

But as PLC1 has said the President is only a part of the economic puzzle. I tend to believe he's a bigger piece than PLC1 does but none the less the President certainly isn't everything.

By the end of 2010 the economy will be hitting on all cylinders again and building steam. Obama will be re-elected by a wide margin.

The best hope for Republicants is to try and stay out of the CONSTANT scandal spotlight and look to 2016 AS A MAYBE POSSIBILITY.

I'm hoping no there too of course. :)

PLC1 - Bush was very conservative compared to Obama.

Only if you're talking about "social" conservative. His fiscal outlook was not that different.

Under Reagan the economy took off.

Yes, it did, all the while the government was running up record (for that time) deficits.

People do care about the deficit when jobs disappear, which is what has only
started in the US. Many more real jobs will disappear under Obama.

People don't care about the deficit. They do care when jobs disappear, especially when one of them is their job. There really is no connection between deficits and unemployment.

There is no rebound yet and there will not be one under Obama.
Remeber JC?

The so called "Carter" recession was due to OPEC, and ended when the price of oil came down.

Whether or not you liked Carter, he didn't have the power to cause the recession of the late '70s.

The president can't spend a dime without Congressional approval. Why do you think he gave the so called "bailouts" such a hard sell?

There is a huge difference between signs that the economy is stabilizing and the economy actually 'getting better'.

You could argue for several pages about whether the economy is getting better or not, and never come to a conclusion. It appears that it might be, which is good news for the country, bad news for the Republicans, and probably not related to anything that the federal government has done.

What would you have them do? Perhaps they should "moderate" by becoming cheerleaders for Obama's policies and join the Democrats in blaming Republicans for every problem we face....

Or, they could admit that one person can neither ruin nor fix the economy. Attributing the current recession to Obama will lead people to believe that any recovery is also due to his efforts.

That is how Democrats got power was through superior propaganda, blaming Bush and Republicans for every one of the nations ills and deflecting any responsibility they had for the nations problems.

Propaganda is what fuels politics. If the Democrats are really better at it than the Republicans, then we're likely to become a one party nation. That would only be a good thing if a truly conservative party were to rise like a phoenix and take their place. If that doesn't happen, we're in danger of becoming like Mexico under the PRI. One party politics did than nation no good.
