Oh it's actually quite simple. The American public has realized that our eight year nightmare of George W. Bush is coming to an end. The American public realizes that the worst president in our nation's history will soon be leaving office. The American public realizes that the disasterous policies of the Republicans will be reversed.

It was in all the newspapers.
 
Why do people get so excited about Obama?

He's a black guy who got himself elected president.
He says he's for change, and most people see a need for change.
But, most of all, he's not Bush.

In fact, Obama could never have been elected president without the help of the current president.

So, ironically, the legacy of the Bush administration is helping to elect the first black president.

Other than that, and even though I have a history of arguing that Obama is not a devil, he's not an angel either. He's a politician.

Both sides of the Obamaisevil vs. Obamaistheanswertoourprayers argument need to take a deep breath and repeat the mantra:

Barack Obama is a politician. He is not the ruination of the nation, not a Muslim, not a socialist, not our messiah, not our savior, not worthy of orgasmic joy, nor of dark despair.

He is a politician.

Ridiculous - he has NO competency or qualifications at all for the job. No background in economics, no depth of political experience, no executive experience, and he will be commander in chief of the military - but unlike almost every president in the last 100 years, no military experience. It's like putting a 10 year in the cockpit of a 747, and telling him to fly to Moscow. :D He is undoubtedly the least competent person ever to hold the job with the exception of Woodrow Wilson (and as we all know ..... er, some of us know ... what happened with him.).

I've heard this many times - that Clinton was responsible for anything good that happened with the economy in the 1990s - and never any supporting arguments. Do you want to be the first one to try? My guess is not. :D

What does BUSH have to do with people gushing over Mr. Big Ears? Could it be that we're going from the frying pan into the fire? Your position makes NO logical sense, but then one remembers the Bot mentality - fixated on the word "change", with no other analysis needed to convince them to become groupies of the Bot King.

And because he's black, and because he represents change. He's a symbol.

He seems to bring out strong emotions, both positive and negative.

There are those who see him as some kind of savior, while others see him as the downfall of the country.

He is neither one. He is a politician who will prove to be neither savior nor destroyer. He is not the king, but the president elect.

You ask why he is treated as a rock star by his supporters, and I tried to give you some answers. Now it's your turn:

Why do the Obama opponents get so emotionally wrapped up in ascribing to him powers he doesn't have, misrepresenting his positions, making dire predictions?


Neither side is being reasonable.

You don't seem to understand a thing I post about Barack Obama.

I've already said I'm not one of the people dancing in the streets celebrating his election. I'm not expecting miracles from Obama, or from any other president.

You wanted to know why there was so much pro Obama hysteria. I told you why. It doesn't mean that I'm a part of it.:rolleyes:

Now, go back and read what I actually wrote, and quit spouting nonsense about Obamabots, then try to tell us just why there is so much emotiionally charged nonsense on the anti Obama side. You do seem to be a part of that.

He is, after all, just a politician.

Note: I had to go back and delete some of your smilies. It seems that there is a limit to how many can be included on one post, and I did add one.

That happens when you try to respond to someone who substitutes smilies for logic and reason... not that I'm accusing you of doing such a thing, you understand.
