In the footsteps of the "oft-elected" Fidel Castro--the big banana republics continue their descension into Hell.

Now--they will give Iran a foothold to our south.
Where are the CIA snipers?
They do provide a very important international service.
Even it it may be somewhat distasteful.
Cancer--is the key here.

Congratulate the people! On what--more tyranny!
Stupidity beyond human comprehension.

Goddamn outrage to make this statement.

We will need Tribunals in the future.

BTW--that "Carney" (perfect name for him) statement would make a great political ad right before the election--with the added endorsement by Chavez of Obama. Priceless.

Fraternal greetings and congratulations to the citizens of Venezuela for electing the heroic socialist Hugo Chavez, tireless opponent of the imperialist US and their lickspittle allies. Needless to say, it is impossible for the ruling class and their wannabe supporters to believe that any socialist could win a free and fair election, and true to form, these opinions now descend on this forum.

The one exit poll conducted by a Spanish source was not mentioned by the Opposition.

"...
With 90% of the ballots counted, Chavez had more than 54% of votes, with nearly 45% for Capriles, Venezuela's National Electoral Council said Sunday night.

Chavez had secured 7.4 million votes and Capriles 6.1 million votes, election officials said.

Capriles' supporters made a significant showing, bringing the opposition candidate the closest any presidential election opponent has come to defeating Chavez. But the high turnout wasn't enough to win for Capriles' campaign, which had criticized the Chavez administration for inefficiencies, infrastructure shortcomings and corruption.

"We began the construction of a path," the opposition coalition candidate told supporters after conceding his defeat. Capriles congratulated Chavez on his victory and urged him to take into account the different views expressed by voters.
"Being a good president means working for the vision of all Venezuelans," he said.

Chavez was elected by his people. Being anti American dies not lose votes in South America, Whether he is a tyrant is depending on your view of his policies. As a Socialist I congratulate him.

Regarding Chavez being a dictator, how are we defining "dictator"? I'm leaning towards dictator right now but terms must be clearly defined. Unless the whole point is to spew Socialist horsecr*p, then I suppose confusion would be an asset.

I think someone who suspends the legislature, changes the voting laws during the voting process, uses fraud, fear and intimidation to get his way and votes, punishes his critics, arrests opponents, takes control of the media, takes away property rights and nationalizes free enterprise is a dictator, while telling his supporters he feels their pain, while causing them more pain and poverty.

Damn! That sounds eerily similar to the actions taken by some of our presidents...
