"On Wednesday night, Rep. Joe Wilson [R, SC-2], shouted You lie!” at President Obama when he said that the healthcare bill would not cover illegal immigrants. “The supporters of the government takeover of healthcare and liberals who want to give healthcare to illegals are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan,” Wilson said the next day in a campaign fundraising video.

However, in 2003, Wilson voted to provide federal fund$ for illegal immigrantshealthcarehttp://www.opencongress.org/article...payer-Money-for-Illegal-Immigrants-Healthcare. The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.

When he took-off, running outta that joint-session, did anyone notice someone (with a Breathalyzer) chasin' him?????????

A Republican hypocrite?...what a surprise!!

Speaking of the Medicare Prescription Drug Act, these teabagger types, the ones now beefing about big government and too much spending, did very little in the way of complaining when the law with the trillion dollar price tag was passed by a GOP Congress at Bush's urging.

The Current-Timeline For Rick "The Loon" Perry

April 23

"Gov. Rick Perry said Wednesday that he still hopes to upend legislationhttp://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...N-perry_23tex.ART.State.Edition1.4ad958f.html that would have the state accept more than a half-billion dollars in stimulus money for unemployment benefits.

Saying "it might look kindly on the front end," the governor warned that the measure would expand benefits into perpetuity because lawmakers usually lack the political will to curtail such programs.

"Cutting government programs that are put in place that are entitlements are almost impossible to cut," Perry said."

September 7

"Gov. Rick Perry rallied opposition to federal stimulus spending, but he now is the manager of one of the biggest pots of federal gold in Texas: crime grants to local law enforcement agencies.

And those grants have become an integral part of Perry's political machine.

Perry in the past has decided what law enforcement agencies receive about $23 million a year in Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance grants. Now, because of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Perry will have an additional $90 million to hand out."

September 11

"Special teams of Texas Rangers will be deployed to the Texas-Mexico border to deal with increasing violence because the federal government has failed to address growing problems there, Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday.

"It is an expansive effort with the Rangers playing a more high-profile role than they've ever played before," Perry said of the Department of Public Safety's elite investigative unit.

The forces, dubbed "Ranger recon" teams, are the latest effort "to fill the gap that's been left by the federal government's ongoing failure to adequately secure our international border with Mexico," he said."

GEE, Rick....ya' want we should BORROW the buck$ needed, to fight the Drug "War"???????? (....you know...seeing-as-how your such a big proponent of TAX-CUTS!!!!!)

Border patrol is a govt responsibility, not a state responsibility.
He's correct in getting Federal aid to help with border security.

I'm sure their best-excuse is that they'd already gone-to-bed, when this vote was taken....
