Axelrod: Obama May Have Thought Bombings Were Tied to ‘Tax Day’

Former White House adviser David Axelrod said Tuesday President Barack Obama did not immediately call Monday’s Boston bombings a “terrorist attack” because it could have been related to “tax day,” The Weekly Standard reports.

"The word has taken on a different meaning since 9/11. You use those words and it means something very specific in people’s mind," Axelrod told NBC News' Chuck Todd. "And I’m sure what was going through the president’s mind is — we really don’t know who did this — it was tax day."

He continued, “Was it someone who was pro — you know, you just don’t know. And so I think his attitude is, let’s not put any inference into this, let’s just make clear that we’re going to get the people responsible.”

Remember Bill Clinton used the Oka bomber Tim McVeigh was because of right wing talk show host.

Despicable — the Democrat party has revved past their previous evidence-free accusations of spitting, bogus racial epithets, and costumed left-wing infiltrators bearing racist signs at tea parties. Now, they’ve dusted off a former POTUS and let him go liberal-wild in the New York Times attacking tea party attendees and talk radio… just don’t let any light fall on his own administration for being in charge during the Oklahoma City bombing, al-Qaeda bombings of US embassies in East Africa, or the government’s bloodbath at Waco (on Clinton’s watch), or the current administration for… uh, anything. Let’s boogie with the bogus — Democrats feel they can capriciously speculate and don’t have to produce a drop of proof when bulldog attacking and comparing millions of law-abiding Americans at TEA protests to a murderous mad man who killed 168 people in Oklahoma City 15 years ago.

That's what Democrats DO! Democrats will never take responsibility for their own actions. Just like Janet Reno will never take responsibility for what she did to Elian Gonzalez

What a marvelous thing that the Republicans never use anything for political gain, saintly racists as they are!

I suppose that we can rely on the extremists to use nothing for their political gain because they are to politically isolated and stupid. That's lucky! :)

What Republicans use anything for political gain? Tell me?
Accuse others of what you do.

That is the answer to your question. There are no legitimate examples of this. Only spin, lies and false accusations from the socialist MSM to be parroted verbatim by our low information friends here.

All of them, always. Fortunately they are so dim that it seldom works.

You were specifically asked by Steveox to tell us which Republicans were using atrocities like the Boston bombing for political gain. You gave us a worthless and meaningless answer, all wind and no substance. Again, you condemned an entire group. You couldn't even give us one name and example. You should reconsider who is and who isn't "dim"! Looked in a mirror lately?

Republicans are using fear of Islamists to spur patriotism and political support. The fear may be often but not always based on reality but it is still being used.

Islamic terrorists are a real threat. Taking a position on a real problem, and seeking real solutions for that problem is not ""using" fear for political gain. That fear is real. Those causing the fear are "Islamic terrorists". Using the Boston bombing to imply that it had something to do with "tax day" was a lie. There was ZERO support for such a claim, even when it was originally made. THAT is using a problem for political gain, while caring nothing for solving the real problem.

The Democrats similarly used the CT shootings as justification for gun-control legislation. As in the case of the Boston bombing, Dems misrepresented the real problem in order to further their political ends. The issue in CT was and is "protecting children in schools", not "gun control". The solution offered by the Dems does nothing to solve that problem. Democrats regularly mispresent events, and lie about the causes of events, solely to advance Democrat political goals.

When Gabi Giffords was shot it Arizona, Democrats and their talking heads lept to blame it on right-wing extremists. Lie! When Republicans tried to get some control of Social Security and Medicare, Democrats accused them of throwing grandmothers over cliffs. When Republicans express concern about the worth of climate-change expenditures, Democrats accuse us of wanting to destroy the environment. Again, they use lies and misrepresentations to advance political ends.

IF Republicans were using Islamists to gain political support we'd be doing the same things to Democrats that they do to us. We Republicans would be accusing them of treason, of being unpatriotic, and of supporting policies that lead to American deaths. I haven't heard one Republican say such things. This isn't a matter of both sides doing it.

The Rs used that fear to push for the passing of the Patriot Act, establishment of Homeland Security, enlargement our military presence around the world, and essentially to attack Iraq. All things primarily meant to make government bigger and more powerful, while reducing individual liberties.

We need to realize that the difference between Rs and Ds is very little. Both are for growing government.

That said, fortunately there are a few liberty loving, limited government promoting Rs. Not one exists in the D party, which is primarily inhabited by communists.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Despite vast differences with President George W. Bush on ideology, style and temperament, President Barack Obama has stuck with Bush policies or aspirations on a number of fronts, from counterterrorism to immigration, from war strategy to the global fight against AIDS.
Even on tax policy, where Bush advocated lower tax rates for all and Obama pushed for higher rates on the rich, Bush's tax cuts for the middle class not only have survived under Obama, they have become permanent.
Obama inherited from his predecessor two military conflicts, a war on terror and a financial crisis. He also inherited, and in time embraced, the means with which to confront them.
On Thursday, Obama will attend the dedication of Bush's presidential library in Texas, a tableau that will draw attention to two distinct men — a Republican and a Democrat from different ends of the political spectrum, political foils with polarized constituencies.
