If the end of times is to come soon...why did God make....

So many people think the end of times is soon here. Of course they have said that since before Jesus even.
But so if we believe that God Created everything...And all for man as there is no life anyplace else...
why did he make Trillions of Trillions of Planets?

Seems like a lot to make to never give man time even even do more then walk on the moon once, or maybe Mars in 20-30 years+
