In Colorado Springs, Obama said

"There is a lesson to be learned from generations who have served: from soldiers and sailors, airmen and Marines, suffragists and freedom riders, teachers and doctors, cops and firefighters. It's the lesson that in America, each of us is free to seek our own dreams, but we must also serve a common purpose, a higher purpose,"

First of all for the Kut-and-run King, who never served in the military, it's the height of arrogance to invoke the patriotism of those who did. Second, the "common purpose, a higher purpose", doesn't mean religion or anything that is the result of free individuals combining their efforts. To a lib, it means socialism, big taxation, and big government. To a lib, a "common purpose" never means shared patriotism, the actions of individuals FREELY combining their talents to provide something of value as with corporations, it means the brute force ability of the state to extract money from productive individuals and put it at the service of ignorant bureaucrats who have some grand scheme. Unlike with the efforts of free individuals, there is never any penalty for failure, there is only more money for the next grand scheme. Further, failure is always blamed on underfunding. "Common" ALWAYS means government to a lib.
