Mass Layoffs Coming under Obama

I didnt notice anyone mention this earlier. But it is my general thought that the economy is to the President as the Super Bowl or well any team game is to winning the game.

When it is good, the President(whoever it is) loves to take credit for the economy. When it is bad, it is someone else's fault. Either way, credit or blame falls on the President in general.

The Bureau of Labor says the unemploymet rate is 16.4% on June 9, 2009.
It's not the rosey 9.4% that the liberal media is reporting. No way.

Bureau of Labor reported a rate less than 5% under Bush.
So it has increased 3X in only 4 months of Obama's policies.

Who is better for the economy and peoples lives?

Bush and that's not the beer!

Who is bad for jobs? BO and his policies stink like your underarms.

grrr .....holding back in ..........

The Left doesn't just lay down anymore and let a President that's only been in office for 150 days get character assassinated by Lunatics on the Far Right that are upset because they keep loosing.

That's why these things must be said:

This current recession, the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression started completely and totally on George Bush's watch. Hence... THIS IS... The BUSH RECESSION.

How many times in the past have you heard the Right rail on the economy when Jimmy Carter was in office?

Turnabout is fair play... they set the rules... we're just slapping them back in the face with them.

As far as who turns it around. If the BUSH RECESSION ends on President Obama's watch... he deserves the credit. Because if it didn't the Radical Right would have no problem blaming him for it not.

I guess it's become a political perception thing. Not between the 2 Parties... but amongst the American people in general.

That's what I said, isn't it?

You looked around, found someone with a high profile with whom you disagree politically, and it was George Bush.

He is obviously to blame for the recession.

You looked around and found someone with a high profile with whom you agree politically, and it was Barack Obama.

He is obviously going to get us out of the recession.

Seriously, though, should the recession end in the next few months, Obama will get the credit for it. If that happens, then the Republicans might just as well go underground for a few more years, as that party is, if not dead, at least comatose.

Yes it is "in part" like you said.

There will always now be a spin from the opposing sides in their favor.

However there is also "some" basic truth. The people have have always judged to some extent economies by who was in office when various things happened.

I'm looking for a recovery under President Obama.

We've already agreed with you that THE BUSH RECESSION that started long before President Obama was even elected is the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

When somebody sets into motion a country screwing effect like George Bush did it's going to mean hard times until a reversal can take affect.

Thankfully we have an energetic hard working new President with a great team and a high intellect this time.

AMERICA AND PRESIDENT OBAMA ARE THE BEST!

Even this year we vacationed in Jamaica and have already booked a 7 night Carnival Cruise on their new huge 130,000 ton ship the Dream for next spring!!!:)

By the end of 2010 there's going to be a whole lot of things that have moved back up into good positions.

Write it down... post it on your refridgerator... remember where you heard it.
You should try and get a job on MSNBC. They need a few more brown- nosers.

No president is to blame for the recession, nor can the current one fix it.

The best he could do is the opposite of what he is doing: Let the failing corporations fail, and balance the budget.

How anyone can say that Bush ruined the economy, but Obama is fixing the economy, when his economic policies are the same as Bush's is beyond me.
Congress has the most to do with it. They are the one's writing the bills and passing the laws.

Everything in the US was humming along beutifully until the dems in 2006 took over control in house and senate. Since then.. it has all been a shambles.

Get rid of the bad apples in congress (dems and repbus) and the problem can be fixed.

And I'm hoping that you're right. Whoever gets the credit for it, a recovery is what we all want.

Yes, Congress has a lot to do with it. The president can veto spending bills, of course, if he disagrees with them.

He didn't disagree with TARP, did he?

In fact, he didn't disagree with a single spending bill passed by the Republican dominated Congress during the time that the US was "humming along beautifully" while running up record deficits.

Both parties are to blame for the debt.

The fact is it's the PRESIDENT who submits HIS BUDGET.

Then Congress takes it up. So the overall budget process starts with the President. Now it is true that Congress holds the purse stings as far as what is actually finalized... but then again if nothing is finalized the government shuts down... so that's yet another consideration.

But the fact remains the BUDGET starts with the President... and it's the PRESIDENT that has the final decision on whether to let it go through or veto it.

The President has a pretty big say as to what actually happens...

but nothing says it has to look anything like his budget,,,,and most dont want to be the ones who end up with no budget at all.
