In Panama City, Fla., the McCain campaign tried to take a page out of the Obama playbook by giving a free concert, this by country music star Frank Rich, before the candidate made an appearance. I guess they had bought into the right wing spin that claimed Obama's big crowds were do to free concerts beforehand. Instead they were embarrassed..the crowd for Rich and McCain was estimated at several hundred.

I dont think anyone was claiming that the only reason Obama can draw a crowd was that he had free concerts. That I know of he only ever had two free concerts before his speeches, and he has had very large crowds at all of his events.

What I was saying is the two biggest events he has had to date both were after free concerts. The bigger issue is that while drooloing over Obama and his crowds at both of his biggest events the media never once mentioned that there were free concerts before either of his speeches.

Obama can draw a crowd, I would not be shocked if Obama could raise the dead at this point.

I'm glad to see you acknowledge Obama's drawing power. I never did understand the right wing's harping on the free concert angle except as a way to try and explain away the enthusiasm generated by this man.

BTW, the several hundred that did show up to see McCain and Rich is just a tiny fraction of the thousands of people who typically show up for John Rich at his own concerts. Leading to just one conclusion...McCain kept the crowd for Rich down.

I think everyone acknowledges his drawing power. Even McCain..... Notice one of his newest ads, calling him the most popular guy out there. We all know he can draw them.

I do not think you could get that big of a crowd for McCain if every single famous conservative talk show host said they would do half an hour on stage and every single famous movie stars republican the whole 4 of them :)

But I dont think the people who will vote for McCain will be doing it via popularity contest. Most of them did not want him to start with and are more voting agaisnt Obama than for McCain.

If McCains lack of ability to draw a crowd mattered in the election, they would not be so close in the polls.

The reason I'm wondering about that is because they want us to believe that McCane is even with Obama while on the face of it Obama is ten times McCane in every department we see. Crowds hundreds of times bigger than McCane's.

Must be missing something?

and like I said, because they where not the reason for the draw, I bet one guy came because his wife man him, some girl came because her boyfriend was working selling pop at it....Why they don't talk about it, is because its not part of the story, its not the real reason the vast majority are there, and because its useless info basically. It has nothing to do with Bias or Obama, its just bad would be bad Journalism. If you are doing like a Huge work on that story maybe, but the point of most news is to get the point and all that out and no wast space. Space and or time = money.

Its funny how some on the right who spew out the greats of capitalism all the time, often fail to see when its at work.

Definitely there's an enthusiasm gap, whether that translates into votes and a Obama victory remains to be seen. Unfortunately we have a significant percentage of the electorate that will never support Obama. They hide behind a multitude of reasons but it gets down to just plain old fashioned racism.

Sure it was part of the story. The story was THIS IS OBAMA'S BIGGEST CROWD EVER!!!

Any and all factors that would make it the biggest crowd ever would be part of the story.

To mention the free concerts would not take away Obama's ability to draw a crowd, it would have been just honestly reporting a story of THE BIGGEST CROWD OBAMA EVER HAD!

All of his events and the events of the other politicians have their fair share of my wife made me, or I was selling hot dogs. The greatest number of people in the Obama crowds were there because they really really like Obama. I would say more are there because they seriously like Obama than hate McCain or Bush.

And I would say most people at McCain events or that would have a McCain bumber sticker are doing it because they loathe Obama.

So, that says something really good about Obama.

You and I will just have to agree to disagree. I think its dishonest to report the biggest crowd ever and not mention once the free concerts and you think it is a non issue.

So you and I just disagree. Hopefully respectfully and hopefully its just ok to not agree about something. We do after all live in the greatest nation on the planet where it is ok to disagree :)

Obama draws large crowds at his concerts, because the people who go to concerts (15 year olds) are the only people stupid enough to buy into Obama's BS. :D

One big difference between Obamas concert event and McCains is that the media did not "forget" to mention the free concert and the McCain camp did nothing to hide it. He went on stage with the band, thanked them exc. The two times Obama had free concerts the media did everything in their power to hide the fact there was a free concert before hand.

that is the biggest difference.

maybe becuse lame attempts to cry about that they did not talk about Obama's....thus McCain maid the free show part of the story, thus actuly worth talking about. They still did not talk about the penut vender though, cuz he is still not worth a story.
