They took a biopsy so I guess we'll see, but it's become obvious that this is going to be an ongoing thing. I don't think it's a question of "if" McCain's cancer returns, I think it's a question as to "when." Anyone want to take bets?

Three-time melanoma survivor John McCain had a spot of skin removed from his right cheek early Monday that he said would undergo a biopsy as a precaution.

The Republican presidential candidate told reporters he had his routine three-month check up with his dermatologist.

"She said that I was doing fine, took a small little nick from my cheek, as she does regularly, and that will be biopsied just to make sure that everything is fine," he said.

McCain sported a small bandage near his right temple as he campaigned in California, and wore a baseball cap as he talked with reporters. He encouraged people to stay out of the sun, and wear sunscreen as much as possible to prevent melanoma.

This is not related, but I always think that it is interesting. Gerald Ford was the one President in this country that no one voted for, and never actually won any national election. Kind of neat.

I think it's pretty obvious John McCain lives on the CANCER roller coaster. He'll retire after loosing the election.

McCain has spot removed from his face for biopsy
Mon Jul 28, 2008 4:20pm EDT

BAKERSFIELD, California (Reuters) -

Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who has suffered from skin cancer in the past, said on Monday his doctor has removed a spot from his face during a routine checkup in Phoenix earlier in the day.

McCain said the spot on the right side of his face, which an aide described as being like a mole, would be biopsied.

"At this point it was just a precautionary removal," an aide told reporters on McCain's campaign plane.

The Arizona senator discussed the spot while speaking to journalists at an oil field in Bakersfield, California, where he was pushing his energy agenda.

McCain has had four malignant melanomas -- a potentially lethal type of skin cancer -- surgically removed since 1993. Three of them were limited to the top layers of the skin and were not invasive.

The fourth melanoma, removed from his left temple in 2000, was invasive. During that surgery, doctors also took out lymph nodes to see if the cancer had spread.

Doctors have removed other less serious skin cancers, including basal cell and squamous cell cancers, from McCain's skin without complication.

As a skin cancer survivor, McCain remains at risk for recurrence or new cancers.

McCain gets a pimple removed, but Obama needs a hip replacement. :D No problem for Obama though - hell, Roosevelt was crippled for his whole presidency.

Though I'm sure you would like for it to be, the word "pimple" doesn't quite cover it. McCain had what is described as a "mole like growth" removed from his temple.

BTW, I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a president that was crippled than one dying of cancer.

No doubt FDR's health issues were part of his opponent's campaign in 1932. Look how that turned out.

Whether you like McCain or not is one thing, but until something really newsworthy comes up why don't we just leave his health to him? Plenty of presidents have had health issues that were resolved fine. Grover Cleveland had to have a cancer cut out of his upper palate while he was in office (he was 56 at the time) and he lived another 15 years afterward. And when he died, it wasn't due to cancer - he had a heart attack.

Could be that it was planned for a while now for McCain's Cancer to come back. I think the rabid right are coming to the awful conclusion that the old boy can't win against Obama.

My prediction was always that Obama and McCain wouldn't go head to head on November 4.

McCain for this reason and if it was Obama it would most likely be that some crazy rabid rightie American would 'off' (take him out) him.

This IS newsworthy, a presidential candidate, who has a history of cancer, has had a growth removed from his temple. How is that NOT newsworthy?

You can be sure that if the news from the biopsy is good, the McCain campaign and the Pubs will plaster it all over the media.

McCain's cancer is coming back sooner or later. About the only way it won't is if he dies from something else first. If he gets elected what are the odds he won't finish even one term? McCain is ailing both physically and mentally from a disease called.. old age.

since when did he need a hip replacment?

you people all sad

Obama needs a new hip based on nothing

Taking beds on when someone gets cancer..

I think this was a joke that got carried away. I posted that he had to see a doctor about hip pain and joked that it would be ironic if he had to get a hip replacement because McCain is the "old" one.

See what telling untrue stories out of school does Rob! Anyway, thanks for clearing your mess up.

The way McCain explains it is that his doc just took a chunk of skin off his face because it was a routine thing they did every three months.

That was bullsh-t because they don't do that as a routine, they do it when there is a mole which looks like it 'could' be malignant. That fact to start shows that something is going on that McCain isn't being truthful about.

The plot thickens.

I think the righties are going to pull McCain.

Why, because there goes half of Poop-I's lies and slurs out the window. :D
The FACT is that McCain DOESN'T have cancer, the claims that he does are strictly the worst kind of lies, and a mole was removed and will be biopsied ONLY as a precautionary action because he USED to have cancer.

BS. You can't definitively state McCain "doesn't have cancer" implying it's all gone never to return. I guess you've become a expert in oncology now, sort of like your electrical engineer that you tried to suggest was in expert in AGW. Lets look at some facts, shall we?

McCain had major surgery in 2000 to remove invasive melanoma on his left temple. In addition to that tumor, doctors excised early stage melanomas from McCain's left shoulder in 1993, from his left arm in 2000 and from his nose in 2002. He also had surgery earlier this year.

When speaking about McCain Margeret Kemeny, a cancer specialist at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, had this to say about the removal of the mole like growth yesterday....."There was enough there that she has to do a biopsy, so in that sense it's bad, It's clear he's prone to getting melanomas.''

Doesn't sound like he's cancer free to me. How can you be considered cancer free, when malignant melanomas are removed regularly from your body?

I think it's time we all just get real for even a second.

Senator Obama works out and strains a hip muscle is a pretty darn fuuuur distance from someone who's almost 72 years old with a extended medical history of several previous skin cancers & skin cancer surgeries now having yet another suspicious looking mole cut off his face for biopsy.

Hey I hope it's not another malignant growth. I don't want to win that way.

I want to see the country come together enough to make the statement that we now know what's been going on for almost 8 years and we're kicking it to the curb on the merits of just how bad things have become under the present administration.

The results of this latest biopsy will be released soon and we'll know if this latest growth is cancer again or not.

From your own link above: :D

``As a precaution, a biopsy was ordered of a very small area on Senator McCain's right cheek. This is a routine minor procedure,'' clinic spokesman Michael Yardley said in a statement.''

Last May, McCain released 1,173 pages of medical records showing that he suffers from several health concerns common among people his age, yet has a strong heart and no evidence of a recurrence of a potentially deadly skin cancer removed eight years ago.

Just what I said. By the way, how does it feel to hope another human being comes down with cancer? A little wierd? I've seen lots of people argue about politics for years, hurl insults etc, but I have NEVER met anyone who lowers themselves to the slimey depths that YOU do.
