McCain leads Ohio and Va.

Gee, that 1.3% spread in Ohio is overwhelming, as is the 2.6% McCain lead in Virginia. These are states that McCain absolutely has to have,

Ah, but look at the TREND in virginia - McCain is heading up and Obama heading down. Looks like it's about to get more "whelming", eh? :D

unless of course he breaks through in Michigan and or Pa, which is not likely.

The residual between the two curves for pennsylvania is trending toward McCain:

McCain is within two points in michigan, so your "not likely" holds no water.

Furthermore, McCain is also ahead in the florida battleground state - mucho electoral votes.

If memory serves, the dems haven't won in recent times w/o carrying florida.

You're right about the trend in Virginia. However in Pa., Kerry won the state by 2%, Gore by 5% and the latest CNN/Time Poll gives Obama a 4% lead....things look like they are running true to form there.

As for Florida, check out the following link and you will see a scenario in which Obama accumulates 281 electoral votes without winning either Fla. or Ohio. It won't be easy, Obama will have to get Colo. and either NM or Nev. but it can be done.
