Michigan has long been the heart of unions and coerced "rights" that have exploded the prices of goods and services and drivien companies and entire cities into bankruptcy. Today, lawmakers there have finally passed a law taking away the "right" of unions to force people to join them and pay union dues - dues which are often used to further bribe lawmakers into favorable treatment of unions. Unions also famously use their massive funding to run political campaigns favoring the legislators who back them in turn - ironically while protesting corporations who donate to opposing causes, claiming those are "evil".
No other restrictions on unions were passed by the lawmakers. Unios still retain all their rights to solicit membership, charge dues, unfluence lawmakers, negotiate labor contracts, initiate strikes, contribute to political campaigns, and all the rest. The only thing they can't do any more, is force people who don't want to join them, to join anyway or lose their jobs.
Unions stayed true to form as the lawmakers debated, surrounding the legislative halls, screaming, pushing, shoving, intimidating citizens and the lawmakers themselves. Police had to break up demonstrations, use pepper spray, etc. to restore a semblance of order.
Michigan's governor is expected to sign the measures into law in the next few days.

Police clashing with union protesters

The Detroit News

Lansing — Pepper spray, heated exchanges and loud protesters chanting over controversial right-to-work legislation came into focus Tuesday with eyes on Michigan's historic clash between Republican lawmakers and organized labor.

Michigan State Police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that a trooper used pepper spray to subdue one of the thousands of protesters outside the Capitol as lawmakers inside approved the controversial bills.

Just after 1 p.m., the State Police reported only two arrests. The individuals were detained after they tried to push past troopers to get inside the George Romney Building across from the Capitol where the governor has an office, State Police Capt. Harold Love told reporters.

He did not know what charges they were facing.

Protesters began chanting "Hell, no we won't go!" as troopers escorting Gov. Rick Snyder threatened to arrest protesters who were occupying the entrance to the Romney building after the legislation passed the Legislature.

The protesters then attempted to sit down and resist police from creating a pathway to the door — they were removed but not arrested as troopers pulled protesters off the ground.

Troopers also came out of the building to get the wall of people to retreat but only got a few feet before protesters stood their ground and yelled, "push!" Police on horseback then dispersed the crowds, as other law enforcement in riot gear pushed back crowds with their batons.

Troopers also had to secure the scene earlier outside of the Capitol Building on the front lawn where rowdy protesters caused a tent used by the conservative group Americans for Prosperity to collapse. No one was hurt, but Love said several people told police "they escaped just in the nick of time before being crushed by the tent."

Another incident involved a trooper's use of pepper spray when a female officer was grabbed into the crowd by a protester, according to the MSP.

"Without getting into a melee, the trooper used a small amount of (pepper spray) to secure the scene," Love said.

Rest assured, though, that when unions finally start to lose their influence, business finally starts to rise again in that boneyard called Detroit, factories finally start to make and sell stuff, and people start getting more jobs in Michigan, the newspapers will all proclaim (in unison) that it's a result of Obamanomics finally working.

The left is spouting their usual violent rhetoric....and the MSM will ignore, while attacking those crazy violent Tea Partiers.

Michigan Democrat on right to work bill: 'There will be blood'

On Tuesday, Rep. Douglas Geiss, a Democrat from Taylor, issued an ominous warning in a debate before a vote on Michigan's right to workbill.
"We are about to undue 100 years of [labor progress]. There will be blood on the streets," he said.
"We will relive the Battle of the Overpass," he said, according to a tweet by the Michigan Democratic Party, referencing a 1937 incidentwhere labor organizers clashed with security guards working for Ford Motor Company.
"Thanks for posting this threat. I screencapped it and we'll be making everyone aware," one person said in response.
"This must be that 'New Civility' the Democrats are always talking about," said another.
Bloomberg reported that a UAW worker warned of civil war.
“It’ll create civil war,” said 55-year-old Bill Bagwell, who told Bloomberg that the measure would cause strife between those who pay union dues and those who don't but enjoy the benefits of the contract.

I saw one union thug on the news tonight that decked a reporter

Funny how the left is always pro-choice, but not when it comes "their stuff". Maybe Obama should tell them to "share the wealth and the jobs"

As Union's membership rate goes down. . . so does the middle class wages.

I see the point that you are attempting to make -- but you don't make it with this graph.

1) Correlation does not automatically mean causation.
2) The point about the share of "aggregate income" is a bogus metric. If the "rich" are just outpacing the growth of the middle, then the middle's share of the aggregate income will decline -- but that does not mean they are worse off.

CBS, ABC, NBC ALL IGNORE UNION VIOLENCE

Last night, all the major television networks chose not to show footage of violent union members in Michigan tearing down a tent owned by Americans for Prosperity, or footage of a union member punching Fox News contributor Steven Crowder in the face repeatedly. This is no surprise; the mainstream media is unconcerned with reports of union violence, which they apparently feel is justified enough not to warrant coverage.

“The pro-union broadcast networks are deliberately censoring footage of thuggish union violence directed at conservatives,” said Media Research President Brent Bozell. “If a Tea Partier had physically assaulted a liberal journalist or ripped down a structure occupied by a liberal organization all on video, the footage would be broadcast on an endless loop. ABC, CBS, and NBC have a responsibility to the American people to expose what’s really happening in Michigan. Their double standard is absolutely outrageous.”
President Obama, who has piped up on issues ranging from Rush Limbaugh’s words about Sandra Fluke to the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. by Cambridge police, remains silent about the violent activities by his union allies in Michigan.

Is it any wonder libs have no clue what is going on?

Did you see what a PA union was doing?

Speakers Blast Sound Of Baby Crying As Part Of Protest In Philly

The recording- which began last Wednesday- runs each weekday from around 8 a.m. to mid-afternoon.
"I know everybody says they've got their rights," says longtime apartment resident Jean Smith, "and that's fine. But don't we have rights too, that we have to hear this constantly- every day?"
The electricians are protesting the use of a non-union contractor to do electrical work on renovations at the apartment building.

We learned about an interesting technique in statistics classes in college. First plug in all the data one has about every variable imaginable, then calculate every single correlation that can be calculated - you WILL find some correlations. Especially if you use odd metrics like "share of wealth"
