Michael Moore: 250,000 Killed in Haiti Because It’s an Unregulated ‘Republican’s Paradise’
By Brent Baker | Sat, 03/06/2010 - 03:20

Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore, appearing on Friday night’s Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO to plug the DVD release of his Capitalism: A Love Story screed, cited the 250,000 killed in Haiti, which he snidely described as an unregulated “Republican’s paradise,” as an apt analogy to justify further regulation of U.S. banks.

Live via satellite from Manhattan, Moore spouted:

Chile had an earthquake this past week that was 500 times greater than the earthquake in Haiti. But here's the big difference. In Chile, they have various -- very serious regulations when it comes to building codes. So a thousand people died, sadly, but a thousand people died with a 500 times greater earthquake. And in Haiti, where there are no building codes, no regulations -- a Republican’s paradise -- a quarter of a million people died.

Haiti could better be characterized as an impoverished nation beset for decades by a corrupt socialist government.

Well.........since the goal of the Republican elite is no regulation, no taxes, no government and no infrastructure, I don't see how you can disagree with what Michael Moore said.

There are a lot of third world countries with the type of government, or rather lack of government, that Republicans propose for this country.

There was a US territory called Saipan, that was left to its own limited government and practiced a similar lack of regulation, infrastructure and taxes. The vast majority of people were dirt poor and overworked, underpaid, under educated and unhealthy, while the minority of very wealthy owned the garment factories and resorts. Top Republicans such as Tom Delay and Jack Abramhoff vacationed there often and declared it a Republican paradise.

The plight of these people was eventually called to the attention of some Democratic senators and their plight has improved somewhat, but over the objections of the Republicans, who wanted to stick with what they refered to as a free-market economy with no government regulations. This means no minimum wage, no benefits, no healthy working conditions and no nothing for the workers.

If only you were just half right with that statement things would be better in the USA. Please back up that statement with credible research.

The Rs and the Ds are BOTH big government types. You really need to get over the R bad D good syndrome.

The Ds condemned Bush for blowing up the budget, but when their guy does it and in a MUCH bigger fashion, it is okay.

You think Mikey Moore is right when he says Haiti is an R paradise. That just proves how out of touch some liberals are and how easily Fat Mike can make money off of fools.

If we followed your recommendations, we'd soon look like Haiti. A few very rich people, a lot of very poor people.

No. You have that backwards. And history proves me correct and you wrong.

This nation did not become the world's economic engine with the largest middle class in world history by imposing socialistic benefits, heavy regulations, and high taxation on income earners. We did become the world's economic engine by implementing capitalism, little regulation, and low taxation.

But, libs will never accept or understand this fact.

Facts and liberalism are antithetical. Hey I like that. I just might copyright it.
