More Republican lies...Taxes

You do understand at least enough of history to get what happened to Germany when they started printing money, right?
All you've gotta remember, is....the same policies that dragged our butts outta Daddy Bush's economic-debacle, will be the (same) ones that rescue us from Lil' Dumbya's economic-debacle.....and, that's what's drivin' "conservatives" NUTZ! (That they'll have to watch it, all-over-again!! :p )

You don't know anything about the world around you, do you?

Tax hikes caused the 1991 recession. Further, no policy got us out of that recession. Can you name the policy that changed anything? Hint: no. What happened was, the market adapted to the new taxes by hiding revenue in tax shelters. The economy continued to grow at a slower pace.

Moreover, the 2008 economic downturn was caused by mark-to-market and the sub-prime loan fallout, which was pushed by CRA under Clinton.

The causes of the two economic down turns are completely different, and would not require the same solution, anymore than the solution to a paper cut and pneumonia is a band aid.

Besides that, neither of these are diving conservatives nuts. I'm going to be ok, whether the US does or not. I already have some plans in place, in case Obama does become the cruel socialist dictator I think he could be. If anything, I'm enjoying this. You realize that he's going to tax the hell out of you to pay for all the things he's blown money on? I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.

You do realize that he, or his successor, will have to tax you and me, too, don't you? You may be looking forward to seeing your taxes increase in order to pay interest on the national debt, but I'm not. The interest on the national debt is already one of the biggest items in the budget.

Is Obama being called a "socialist" because he wants to lower taxes for the middle class, while raising them for the rich, or is it because of his advocacy of pouring billions into private enterprise in order to "bail them out" of their financial problems?

If the government takes over banks, tries to run the auto industry, has a controlling interest in major corporations, then the title "socialist" is apt. A restructuring of the income tax is not socialism.

then greenspan and quite a few others are also all socialist. But I would take socialist in those cases, over free market, let the houseing, banking, auto industry...all fail at once and just hope for the best.

in 4 years, if they all went under, how many votes you think anyone in office could get if there stated policy was do nothing about it?

That depends on whether they really took the rest of the economy down with them as the bailout advocates predict. If they were to go down, and other, more efficient entities to take their place, then the advocates of doing nothing would get a lot of votes the next time around. The Democratic Party would be history.

As it is, if the economy does turn around in time for the next election, then the Republican Party is likely to be history, at least for a while.

Maybe the Libertarian Party will fill the vacuum and become the new second party. It is the only conservative party left, after all.

Whole industries would not fail.

In fact, the industries as a whole would get stronger when specific institutions failed because the remaining would buy up the failures at enough of a discount that they would make a profit.
