That being said, more spending is not change at all. But more spending on socialism is. And sadly people will not even be aware of what they have lost even when they have lost it - if they are lucky.

For example, when congress was debating the income tax the opponents were aghast that in order to enforce it the fed would have to become very intrusive. They would need to be asking employers how much a person earned. Before that it was unthinkable that our government should get so nosy as to be that interested in our private lives. Today we debate whether or not they should put chips in all our cars so they can tax us by the mile instead of through toll booths.
