In the forty years since the first Earth Day, people have been screeching that mankind's activities have been having deleterious effects on the earth's climate. They have also been digging and digging for proof of this... and come up completely empty.

In those 40 years, not a single study has been done that has proven an link between human activity and climate change, despite all the demand for such a result. Many "studies" have pointed to a cooling trend, and then pointed to increased use of fossil fuels (coal, oil etc.) by man. And then they have jumped to the conclusion that the one causes the other, without actually demonstrating any causal relationship.

More recently, the same thing has been done with the idea of global warming, apparently ignoring all the previous "conclusions" that the globe was cooling. And most recently of all, the advocates of all this stuff have thrown up their hands and announced that the problem is "global climate change", carefully avoiding specifying what change that is.

A number of reports have also come out, citing the previous reports as "evidence" that they have proved their point on global warming, or cooling, or whatever... without mentioning the fact that the previous reports contained no such evidence, but only more jumping to conclusions.

With all this non-evidence rising to a crescendo, Barack Obama has now announced that we must expend massive resources (exact amount not specified) to change the climate. The fact that no one has ever shown that man can do that at all, or that he can do it in the future, seems to not bother him. He even seems to feel that this effort to change the climate, must supersede our efforts to recover from the current economic problems we face.

How much work must we do, how many resources will we have to expend (in the middle of dozens of other "crises" we must deal with) before President Obama perhaps realizes that he is tilting at windmills - "fighting" something that is impossible for us to have any effect on?

UNITED NATIONS -- President Barack Obama has implored world leaders to confront climate change, saying there can be no peace without cooperative work to preserve the planet.

Appearing before global leaders gathered at the United Nations, Obama said Wednesday that "the danger posed by climate change cannot be denied - and our responsibility to meet it must not be deferred."

The president said "this is why the days when America dragged its feet on this issue are over." He said he understood the tempation of nations to put economic recovery from recession ahead of climate change work, but said that must not be allowed to happen.

Not so fast there Shame Man.

There's more evidence that shows the earth temperature parallels the solar flares, proving that man made climate change is a fallacy.

If, though, the govt could play on the fears of its people and demand "change" in the name of the planet then they could enact new laws and control our actions.

The fact that you point to a study that was somewhat bias to the United nations is very funny!

What obama says is not reality . obama is an enemy of the America we grew up in and love. obama is a friend of the terrorist and advocates their agenda As you heard in his U.N. speech he also wants to destroy Israel . Actually ,he wants to undermine all of our allies. Do you think Israel, and the U.K. are going to trust us as long as he is our leader? In a few lomg months he has harmed America more than any past fascist dictator. He has put extreme doubt in the minds of our allies and has given hope to our enemies that America can be taken down . The sad part is the democrat party and a few of the republicans are anxious to see America fall . In their ignorance they believe obama will share the spoils of America's defeat with them . In reality obama is not satisfied with just the destruction of America he is looking at controlling the world, president of the world so to speak . November 4, 2008 , a day of INFAMY more destructive to America and her citizens than December 7, 1941 ever was!

why do you even speak?

So, still no one can cite any studies that prove any link between man's activities and global warming/cooling/whatever? Just the same old reports that refer to reports that refer to reports that refer to "experts" who refer to reports that jump to an unsupported conclusion without any factual basis for linking man to climate change?

Why am I not surprised.

Back to the subject:
Obama is now demanding that we do something about a condition we have never been able to do anything about, nor can we expect to be able to do something about it. How many man-hours of wasted effort, how many trillions of dollars, how many projects will be neglected in this quest to slay an imaginary dragon?

Yet, if the goal were to reduce the amount of energy used how about this idea instead:

When I get my electricity bill it is made up of many parts, only one of which is the amount of electricity that I use. When I switched to compact bulbs it had virtually zero effect on my bill despite the fact that I switched about a hundred of them. Why? Because though my energy usage went down ever so slightly (to my disappointment) all the other parts of my bill remained unchanged.

To further detail this: one part of my bill is a fee just for having the service. No matter how much or little electricity I use the fee remains unchanged.

If we really wanted to reduce then we could simply bill ONLY according to how much electricity is actually used. This would accomplish far more than all the gov programs advocated so far and yet would not impose any taxes or restrictive rules on anyone at all.

As another example, have you ever driven by an apartment building where the management pays for the gas and the residents don't pay for it directly. As soon as their apartment gets too hot they open the window.

That brings up an interesting question:

Through what "crisis" will government be able to control more of your everyday activities?

Health insurance? Or Global warming/cooling/whatever?

This business of "carbon footprints", which is a nonsense fad thought up by a couple of environmental whackos several years ago, has expanded and swollen into actual laws and court cases faster than any other silly fad I've ever seen.

If Al Gore donated 100% of his proceeds to reduce carbon emissions and GE agreed not to make billions off any cap and trade laws that may be passed...

You could then make a case, that climate change is not purely a political game.

Even Obama has politically been involved in climate change in Chicago before he became president.

So if this is just about 'saving' the planet, and not about $$$$$$$, those people pushing the notion, need to prove it.

thats very true, unless by no evidence, you ment most evidence.....

Then again you are one of those who nothing would ever be enough, as you just don't want to believe...facts will never sway you. You are a firm stalwart of "truthiness"

unless by no evidence you meant most evidence...

pocket you crack me up:D... nice job!

You know what it is "the world is here for us to pollute because we're going off to heaven anyway crowd" wants to split hairs as to "how much" man and all the industrialized emissions are harming the planet.

They know it's some... they can drive to LA and breath the smog for like one minute and know that. But they look at the money it takes to slow down the pollution and the effects on climate change NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY ARE and say the typical Republicant line of...

let's do nothing.

Even just steps toward doing better at lessening pollution and controlling green house gases just a little and the Conservatives cry foul.

Sad really... stupid... but sad.

Back to the subject:
How much of our resources will President Obama demand that we expend in his crusade to change the unchageable? At what point will he declare that maybe we should stop tilting at windmills, and maybe use some of those resources for more practical things, like fixing the economy, fighting terrorists, and defeating liberal attempts to subvert the Constitution?

(I just threw that last one in for fun. Though it is unquestionably worthwhile, there's no way Obama would EVER support it)

Well so far Obama hasn't improved the climate one bit!

He alreday claims he has, but like most of his claims, they are lies!
