Finding them is the challenge. Comparing academic results is not a solution though, because some of the best teachers teaching in schools; their students/children have bad results. They have classes that may have bad results. For good teachers it may take time to raise levels in schools where children come from very difficult homes. In the meantime they are accomplishing other things which cannot be seen in academic results. That is raising the reasoning levels amongst children and adolescences, which can be a matter of life or death (of themselves and the community, directly and indirectly, metaphorically and literally).

But yes, teachers need to be held accountable, but it cannot accomplish raising levels sacking teachers based on academic levels alone.

You can be sure that the principal of the school knows exactly who the bad teachers are. It will be no problem to identify them. All that needs to be done is to untie the hands of the administrators.

Even in my city full of socialists and communits, they are talking about Palin and in a good way. I see smiles when talking politics rather than fustration.

Many times the problem is with the teachers. Especially in low income areas. Eliminating poverty will not produce good students, I went to a Jesuit school with plenty of rich bad students.

There are countless examples of poor smart students as well who come out of bad schools and are successful.

One of my best friends did Teach for America, and she told me that the majority of "teachers" that were there (from outside the program) were simply there to get a paycheck. Many times they could care less about the actual children, and many times, some even just left to go home early. Now I am not saying every teacher is bad, but if a teacher cannot teach in a low income area they should be gotten rid of same just as they should be if they cannot teach in a high income area.
