Raising taxes on the poor and working stiffs is now being publicly discussed.
Obama had planned to all along anyhow, although he has been coy.

Obama had promised not to raise taxes on the middle class when he campaigned. So it appears he will break that promise also.

Well he has spent less money than he planned and needs revenue
to spend some more.

By the way, jobs are are disappearing as fast as ever now, thanks
to the spending and promise of higher taxes.

The jobs aren't coming back, that we can count on!

It's called CHANGE!

Econ chief Timothy Geithner won't rule out middle class tax increases

Here's the issue is your done blabbing about meaningless things like if Sarah Palin is going to divorce....

Obama has spent $787 Billion dollars, plus a massive amount for auto companies, and he plans a stimulus 2 the revenge, and health care for everyone.

This equals roughly $10 Trillion dollars over the next 9 years. Now, thus far Obamas rough plan for how to deal with these expenses has been a plan to raise taxes on "the rich" namely by letting Bush's tax cut expire.

Let's use some basic logic.... Prior to Bush's tax cut... was there $10 Trillion in extra money laying around? No there was not. If you doubt that, check the national debt at that time. You'll note that it was lower than $10 Trillion, which means if those taxes were bringing in $10 Trillion, we would be debt free today.

Instead there was tons of debt before those tax cuts passed. So letting them expire is not going to cover Overspend-Obama's plan.

Well maybe the idea that taxing "the rich" will still work though? Well, go look at the 70s when tax rates for the top tax bracket were double what they are today. Did we have $10 Trillion then? Or even close? No, and the debt grew during that time. So that didn't work either.

The point is, Obama can not possibly pay for these policies without taxing everyone, and that is what Timothy Geithner knows. Which is why Obama and company have quietly backed away from the "no new taxes" theory. It can't work. He lied, as he has since he started running for office.

Maybe we can find a National Enquirer story on the issue.

"Maybe we can find a National Enquirer story on the issue."

That would be a superior source the total lack of any, he used. If Obama planning to tax the poor is the best lie you wingnuts can come up with, you're going to quit being so amusing.

CBS News.

Two of President Obama's economic heavyweights said middle-class taxes might have to go up to pare budget deficits or to pay for the proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system.

The tough talk from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers on Sunday capped a week that brought rare good news for the economy

While this of course does not mean there are any plans, it is something to think about.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama maintains his "clear commitment" to not raise taxes on middle class families, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said on Monday.

After Obama's advisers appeared to leave the door open to a middle class tax hike over the weekend, Gibbs told reporters he was reiterating the president's promise not to raise taxes on those that make less than $250,000 a year.

Mixed signals from the White House are never a good thing. Obama needs to get his team in line or he is leaving himself open to serious attack.

he is gonna raise them sooner or later... someone has to pay the bills

Which again is the point. Obama can "claim" to be "clearly committed" to farting in the wind, and plopping out $10 Trillion dollars, but ultimately, these debts have to be covered somehow. The worst possible way is by printing new money using the Federal reserve, which will undoubtedly cause hyperinflation. The second worst way is by jacking up taxes during a recession, which will undoubtedly lead to a great depression.

The third, and best possible way is to cut spending in correlation with the new programs. Of course that isn't even possible right now since based on current estimates, he'd have to cancel everything including Social Security to cut enough funds to cover existing expenses.

Of course that's not going to happen. His "Medicare Reform" to prevent it from going bankrupt, was only estimated to save $2 Billion dollars over the next 10 years by his own CBO. Good thing to save a whooping $2 Billion, when it is $74 Trillion in unfunded liabilities. That sure averted a disaster.

Politics is the playground of the idiots right now, but economics doesn't change due to politics. The morons will have a wake up call from reality soon.
