Of course the Liberal insanity goes thusly: Ford closed US plants, and moved more operations into Canada, because in Canada the government pays for health care, thus reducing labor cost.
This is factually accurate. Ford did move more automotive manufacturing north of the boarder because doing so reduced labor cost by eliminating health care costs.
However, like most liberal theories, they take this grain of truth, and twist, expand, warp it to fit into all areas of the economy.
But auto manufacturers, through the contracts with UAW, have health care enforced through union agreements. Thus they could not make these changes. So moving operations to Canada did help
This however, is not true for the rest of nation. Most companies change their benefit packages to fit their financial condition. Once done, there is no further need to reduce health care costs. So instituting national health care will not help.
Further, most leftist idiots fail to realize who is going to pay for health care. In most countries with nationalized health care, all industries are nailed with a heavy tax to pay for socialization. So whatever minor benefit a company might get with reduced health care costs, will be more than matched by massive government taxes.
And of course, as I always mention with socialized medicine, it really sucks.
STORY
I'll take a moment to recall a caller to a radio program just a few days ago. It was the wife of a doctor, and they were asking whether they should empty their retirement fund now, or wait a few years. Here's why...
They said it was pretty clear socialized medicine was in the future if Obama has his way. So they were planning on packing up and moving out of the country, to practice medicine somewhere they wouldn't be controlled by the government. Moreover, the word in doctors circles is that many of the older doctors are going to flip off government, and retire early if it's socialized, while others already have back up plans to go to other countries.
Now think about that... all the older experienced doctors are going to retire early, and the mid-life doctors are moving out of the country... who does that leave us? The young 'too inexperienced to go somewhere else' doctors that now don't have any older ones to learn from. Great.....
