So Top Gun, what do you think this is about. I just changed channels to the news but all it is saying is she is leaving at the end of the month and not seeking re election.

If it was just news that she was not seeking re election it would make one think she is going to try for 2012, but the stepping down this month makes me wonder.

After listening to her whole speech, I don't think there is a scandal coming, I think she wants the freedom to build a war chest that she could not do as Gov.

I like her as a person and I like her politics but I would rather have Mitt Romney so I hope she can not build that big of a chest.

There might be a scandal coming but I figure if there was anything they could throw at her they would have done it by now. They have thrown a load of crap at her so far and nothing stuck... if there were "big guns" they would have used them I think.

Pan I have no information "yet" of a particular scandal.

But I've been watching this unfold on spit screen CNN and MSNBC ever since this broke and all are saying it's absolutely politically bizarre for her to do this with all this time left in her term. Somethings up.

The analysts are saying none of her reasons add up and she was very defensive and seemed almost panic stricken in her fast talk speech pattern during her resignation speech. She even specifically warned about bad things being said about her to come.

If I was a betting man I'd my guess would be that the Republican Party itself in Alaska has something on her and the pressure was just to heavy to bear... possibly she made a deal to step down and avoid some threatened embarrassment. I don't know "yet".

But who knows. I'm betting the Republican Party in Alaska either has something on her (they don't get alone... with Ted Stevens gone she's all alone) or there's something else just about to break and she's trying to get out in front of it.

Did Palin resign because of pending indictments?

There are has been a lot of speculation as to what brought this move by Caribou Barbie on...though not yet confirmed, things are beginning to take shape..

FURTHER UPDATE: Okay, I've now been able to get independent information from multiple sources that all of this precedes what are said to be possible federal indictments against Palin, concerning an embezzlement scandal related to the building of Palin's house and the Wasilla Sports Complex built during her tenure as Mayor. Both structures, it is said, feature the "same windows, same wood, same products." Federal investigators have been looking into this for some time, and indictments could be imminent, according to the Alaska sources.
