So how stupid are the Republicans?

Remember the adage about those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks? Apparently the McCain campaign is clueless what that means.

Months ago they decided to go after Michelle Obama claiming she didn't love America enough for their tastes. Then it came out that McCain's wife was a drug addict and a convicted thief, stealing drugs from a charity organized to aid impoverished countries. Opps. They got the bash the wives theme in a hurry.
Then McCain went after Obama over his former preacher. Then the preachers McCain had sought out and courted for their support turned out to be such radical moonbats, one by one he had to throw them under the bus.

In recent days McCain and Caribou Barbie have been fanning the flames of terrorism, claiming Obama has been "pallin' around with terrorists". Another really stupid move from McCain. Only a few months ago John McCain was forced to remove a man from his finance committee that was labeled as a supporter of Hezbollah, and "a key agent of the terrorist group in the Detroit area". Those allegations did'nt come from the Democrats. They came from Debbie Schlussel, a Republican and conservative writer. It's hardly an asset to have a terrorist helping you raise funds. It certainly doesn't give the appearance of good judgement to employ a member of Hezbollah, an organization the US State Department labels as a "terrorist organization", as a key fund raiser.

It would also be very interesting to know where this alleged terrorist went to get the money he brought into John McCain's campaign. Did any of McCain's new campaign funds actually come from other terrorists? It's unknown if John McCain used that money or disposed of it. Here's the link to additional details posted on the ABC News website....

Now this story just surfaced. William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime. The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein's government.

There's a significant difference between McCain's claims about Obama and his own "pallin' around with terrorists". The McCain smear centers around a man that was involved in questionable acts when Obama was an eight year old grade school child. McCain's terrorist connections have happened during the course of his current campaign to become president.

Really dumb idea to bring that topic up for two reasons. First, it showcases his flawed judgment to set himself for scrutiny for his own actions. Second, dumb ideas have been the hallmark of the Bush administration. McCain has proved, once again, he really is just like Bush. Bet he didn't think of that when he played his gotcha card.
