Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell criticized President Barack Obama’s foreign policy Wednesday, saying he was “hard pressed” to come up with any successes the administration had in that arena.

“When it comes to the president’s foreign policy, can you think of any place in the world, any place, where we’re better off now than we were when he came to office?” McConnell said at a press conference Wednesday. “I’m hard-pressed to think of any single place in the world where we’re better off.”

As congress and the administration work to deal with Russia’s occupation of the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine, McConnell accused Obama of acing with “passivity” when it comes to foreign policy.

“It’s no wonder that Putin looked at the United States and sort of concluded that no matter what he does, he doesn’t pay the price,” McConnell said.

McConnell called “the passive approach” “a mistake.”
