money effects policy, sex does not normaly. all have issues, but not all are of the same scale,

being a powerful politician makes one want more power. It is said sex is power. I never really understood that but its what some say.


If it is true, then it seems likely that powerful politiicans would end up in sex scandals.

Republicans set them self up for it though, with the Family Values talk and Culture war and all that. They build themself up so high, you have to want to watch them fall. And the gay stuff well its gay sex from people wo stand in the way of Gay rights and openly attack them for being gay...its like when a rev or presit gets cought, or just anyone who harps against gays and then you find is gay.

Edwards never made a big Family Values push, but somehow I just got the idea he was still better then that. But yea lots of people cheat, betting half the people who will cry about it, would have to admit they cheated at some point in there life with a girlfreind, wife or something.

I normaly dont care so much about personal life, unless its thoe pure Hypocrcy part I can point out.

That's curious to me. I don't see that any of them build themselves up. Most support family values, like most Americans do, because they work. The opposing view does not work. I would hope most can see that, even if they are not religious.

But what is amazing to me is, if you are against hypocrisy, great. But do you have a selective hatred? Now, I freely admit, I don't know well enough yet to know. However, there have been a large number of other people on here who did, and still do have a very selective hatred of hypocrisy.

For example, Al Gore, when he had to run of office in TN, campaigned with the "g-d hates fags" group. He got their support, and he went to their meetings. Yet, the instant he had to run on a national level, suddenly he was the gay's best friend. Do you hate hypocrisy?

How about those evil law-breaking tax-evading rich people? Clinton spent most of his 8 years talking about how the rich didn't pay enough in taxes, and need to be prosecuted, and tossed in jail for their evil greedy ways. We had to get Big-Tobacco, Big-Medicine, evil Microsoft (until Bill gave Bill money, then he wasn't so bad), and so on. Yet in the 11th hour, he pardoned Marc Rich, an evil, illegal, trading with the enemy, treasonous, tax-evading, law-breaking, wealthy rich guy, who fled the country... because his 'estranged' wife gave a large 'contribution' to Clinton. Do you hate hypocrisy?

Again, none of this makes anything any repug, did better. This is not an excuse. I hate them both. Do liberals hate them both? Or just the ones not part of their party?

Im sorry I though if you wanted to talk Family Values and Politics....the leadership of the party that talks about it so much was a issue. Sorry but the republican party has not shown me any reason to belive they can be trusted with anything anymore , so unless someone wants to put up and actuly be a good leader and good family values then why should I listen to them?

Granted, you don't have to listen to anyone. If you wish to flush your life down the drain with immoral activity, you can do so, and no one is going to stop you. The reason people talk about family values is because it leads to a better spot for you, not them. You doing whatever you want doesn't effect them. They have no invested interest either way.

It's like a 500 lbs guy being talked to by a 170 lbs guy who's saying, 'you know dieting really helped my life. I have more energy, I'm more healthy. I can do a lot more, and I don't get tired after walking across the hall.' Now the healthy dude isn't talking to him for his own benefit. He's saying it for the benefit of the other person. Now he's not going to get bent if the 500 lbs guy sputters off at him and walks away.

Similarly, if anyone wants to run off and be drunk all the time, and shoot up drugs, and screw around with everything he can find, it's no skin off our back. Feel free, hope that works out for you, even if it hasn't with nearly everyone else that's gone that way.

Which party has shown you, they can be trusted? Democrats that defend a felon? What exactly are you looking for here?

I've had to deal with alcoholics in my own family. It is never enough for them to make themselves miserable, they insist on making everyone around them miserable too.

None of us are islands, we live in community.

My un-married shacked up neighbors screamed and yelling, had the police out all the time, their kids were wild and crazy, damaged nearby stuff and bothered everyone. They had fights in the common parking lot, (I live in a nice condo in a middle class area). I just... let it go, and ignored it.

What would you suggest, I go over and preach the Bible at them? "you shouldn't be living together unmarried! You should not be out drinking all night! You shouldn't be yelling at who should be your husband!" You think they'd listen? Of course not. So let them finally blow up, he moved out, she couldn't afford the place without him, got foreclosed on, and now they are gone.

Do I care? Sorta. If I thought I could help I would, but what can you do with crazy immoral people? If I bang a Bible at them, they'll just ignore me. So why bother?

Gensenace is exactly my point. Family values is promoted to get people to think and act differently on their own. I can't make anyone have family values. I support those who proclaim them in hopes others will find that better path. Better than most of people I know and my neighbors.

I got you figured out again! You are shell shocked. After having every single argument you ever tried to spit together, totally and utterly destroyed, as in completely obliterated... now you just mumble around saying nothing.

It's possible. I don't how else to tell you it's middle class. As far as shootings gunplay? I have never seen nor heard any guns go off anywhere even close to this vicinity. You are clearly thinking of the Section 8, government funded (socialist) area of town. That's a about mile from here, and they have shootings constantly. Something about getting a free ride from tax payers makes you criminal. I can't explain it, I just know it's true.

The fights I'm talking about are domestic.. well here's something that happened. He and she were angry about one wanting to go out drinking with friends. As such, they were outside, circling (I believe) her car. Eventually she started egging him on to hit her, actually requesting it. He instead got a hammer and threatened the car instead.

In the end, nothing physical happened, cause then I'd be over there in a flash. I'm about 6'2 and ~200 lbs. I could easily handle them both if I needed too. But it was a lot of yelling and screaming and posturing. Like most unmarried couples, they are not together anymore, obviously.

I have never heard a gunshot in my town other than maybe some wacko gungoon hunter shooting at a deer to scare it out of his garden. And I can't remember when that was. As for domestic fights, they probably don't happen in Canadian middle class neighbourhoods but we may have a different idea of what's middle class. But really Andy, who the fu-k cares anyway. Americans are blowing each other away with their guns about ten times as frequently as Canadians do anyway.

I would rather not go there because it puts a bad taste in my mouth. Keep your down and dirty stuff to yourselves.
