Political Correctness and Boys in Education

That could be the case. And of course there is no guarantee that this sort of thing is happening in every school, either. Still, it is something to be concerned about, both as a parent and also for any teacher who truly wants to see his or her students have successful lives.

I agree with the article too. I have 2 nephews who are 5 and 6 years old, and they joined recently an athletics program. From the beginning we tried to tell them that the important thing was to have fun and to participate, specially since one of them is a little more slow in runing. But he was the one that said: No mom, the important thing is to win! It was funny. He hasn't won anything, but he is having a lot of fun.

I'm glad that your nephew is having fun, even if he hasn't won anything yet. Both of my boys get upset if they don't win, aren't chosen for something, etc. It's really hard to explain that there can only be ONE winner in some games, they think it should always be THEM!:-s
