Unfortunately, most "Deathers" are illiterate.

Volunteers (to read this TO the "Deathers") WILL BE REQUIRED!!!

"We'd turn to the family and say, 'We need your input. If your mother or father could speak now, what would they tell you?' And the family would say, 'If we only knew,' " said Hammes, 59. "I could see the distress. They were going to have to live with themselves, with the worry about making a mistake. This was unacceptable."

Great article...thanks for posting it.

Once again, in your effort to throw people under the bus or to make a joke you missed the key element of this and how it was missed by the HR 3200.

There is no question that everyone should have a living will and have their wishes be made clear. The problem is that is not what HR 3200 said. It gave no clarification other than incenting a discussion with your doctor. the reality is that this is more of a discussion with your attorney and your family. Most people know when enough is enough and it should be a family decision that is implemented in writing with a lawyer.

The key is that it is a choice everyone needs to make for themselves and shouldn't have any nudging in a particular direction which is what the HR 3200 bill was loosely suggesting.
