I'm an amateur astronomer as well as a geologist. This is usualy the time of year where I'm out taking a lot of images with my scope. Unfortunately, I had shoulder surgery this week, and will be laid up for a while. So I decided to rework some of my images from earlier this year. I took an image of Messier 8, in Sagitarius in July that came out pretty well, but I was never quite satisfied with it. I recently learned a few techniques that bring out more detail in nebulas without messing up the colors of the stars. I applied those methods to M8, and I think it came out pretty well. Anyway, here it is. Enjoy:
