As there are no governments that are textbook socialist or communist and really no people either, these debates are pointless.
There are a sort of spectrum of socialist or communist thinking that one can fall into.

And that is a good part of my point. Apparently Hammerhead doesn't know this or he just throws out generalizations to get a reaction, but he'll no doubt thank you for answering for him.
No I think hh does get it. Because textbook definitions are moot in reality you are left with generalities.
Not ALL libertarians are single issue voters (legalize pot) but in (I think)2008 libertarian prep debate pot consummed virtually the entire 90 minutes. And there were like half a dozen candidates.

And BTW, the NYPost is a right wing rag and relies on false information and outright lies. It's unmitigated nonsense to declare Bernie is a hard core communist. Their "evidence" consists of no documentation and only their own "interpretation" of the role of a few organizations. Young People’s Socialist League? The Socialist Party? The United Packinghouse Workers Union? They were communist orgs? Really? Some have called the Democratic Party a communist party. Shall we just take it as fact because it feels good? We are seeing the results of people feeling good about Trump as he destroys the Republican Party.
The NYPost article is garbage.
And the USSR as an example of communism? It's easy to bury your head in the sand when you hear something to feels pleasing to the ears. But a study into it reveals that the claim that Russia and China are "communist" is merely "the Big Lie". It plays well with the people who know no better, so they keep pushing it. But both were cases of capitalist roaders turning the countries into state capitalism, complete with repressions. But I'm sure this is too much of a lecture and it's so much easier to just be satisfied with sketchy distortions that sound good to the willing ear.

Of course you ignore actual Communist countries and focus on what your ideology tells you Communist countries should look like. So far Communist countries have been impoverished dictatorships, but I'm sure next time you'll create a true paradise. Lol
