A DINGO was responsible for the death of Azaria Chamberlain in 1980, a Northern Territory coroner has found.
Coroner Elizabeth Morris told a packed courtroom today that a dingo was to blame for the attack at Uluru, which originally saw Azaria's mother Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton jailed for murder and her husband Michael given a suspended sentence for being an accessory after the fact.

I agree the Australian cops did jump to a conclusion. But so did a court and Jury. The Chamberlain were not black but white Americans, He was a pastor from an American church the Seventh day Adventists. Their reaction of leaving it up to God was not what we expect in secular Australia. Even now some people do not believe Chamberlains were not guilty One letter point out there was foetal blood under the dashboard. This is accepted as evidence by police at the time. However this is not proof that the parents kill the baby. There would surly be many times when the baby was in the car.
The danger of making false judgement on people you do not like is very real and its not just the cops.

You see,,When you make a mistake at you job the boss fires you right? Well the officers wont get fired from their jobs when they make a mistake. And when they commit crimes they wont ever get to see inside of a jail cell but we will!

In fairness to Australia might I point out that many cops here have ended up in jail, even a police Commissioner. This is not to say there is not corruption. The previous Chief Commissioner of police was sack when the State Government change although our police Commissioner is not meant to be a political appointment.

Steveok. In Australia we don't elect Judges or Police Chiefs. However Politicians and newspapers do interfere. Victoria has had three Police commissioners in three years. The Liberal Deputy Leader is being investigated of getting rid of the last one to be replaced by one of his choosing.

Australians are not united on Chamberlain. In a survey of a tabloid Murdoch newspaper 51% said they were guilty and 49% sads no.

Thats Australia,,But In America,,Judges dont put cops in prison,,Just ordinary folks,,In America when youre caught speeding no matter how you fight your ticket in court you cant win unless cop doesnt show up. Judges will go in favor of the cops even hes wrong.
