1. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A leading U.S. Republican senator proposed legislation on Tuesday that would authorize the U.S. president to impose far-reaching sanctions on China if it fails to give a full account of events leading to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of President Donald Trump, said he was convinced that had it not been for “deception” by China’s ruling Communist Party, the virus would not be in the United States, where it has now killed more than 80,000 Americans....

2. It's high time for China to be on the offensive instead of staying on the defensive all this while. China must demand an international investigation into all US labs on the events leading to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The US must provide a full and complete accounting to any COVID-19 investigation led by China, its allies or UN affiliate such as the World Health Organization.

3. To hold China accountable for the pandemic outbreak, Lindsey Graham and other US rogue politicians not only treat all Americans as morons but also the rest of mankind as idiots. Is the Chinese government so stupid and crazy to intentionally release a pathogen in a large city of its own to undermine the US economy? If China really wants to spread the coronavirus pandemic to the US, it will do it quietly in a large US city.

Using another analogy, suppose you were an unfortunate passenger in a taxi which crashed into a crowd of pedestrians, were you happy to be the scapegoat for the taxi driver's carelessness? The taxi driver who ploughed into the crowd was analogous to the coronavirus that causes deaths and economic disasters around the world. In the analogy, China is akin to the unfortunate passenger who broke a few ribs and received some severe cuts to the face. Should the passenger be held accountable for the casualties and deaths caused by the taxi driver's carelessness? Similarly, should China be held accountable for the deaths and economic disasters caused by the coronavirus?
