GAMEDAY CENTRAL: TOWSON AT VCU

THE STORY LINES
• VCU enters tonight as one of the hottest teams in the country, winning nine straight, good for the ninth-longest active winning streak in the country. The Rams have won 17 of its past 19 games and have not lost in exactly a month.

• With its 59-56 win over Northeastern on Saturday, VCU became one of just six schools to currently have 20-plus wins in each of the past six seasons. Other schools on that list are North Carolina, Syracuse, Ohio State, UNLV and BYU.

• Head Coach Shaka Smart is in his 13th season of collegiate coaching, either as assistant, director of operations or as a head coach. In 11 of those 13 years, his teams have reached the 20-win plateau.

• Tonight is a rematch from less than two weeks ago when the Rams took down the Tigers in Maryland on Jan. 25 by a tally of 67-42. VCU has won the last seven meetings between the two schools.

• Towson is one of three CAA schools that have not won inside the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. The Tigers (0-8) sit alongside Delaware (0-7) and Hofstra (0-9). VCU is 88-16 at home against current CAA members.

• VCU currently leads the country in total steals with 248 on the year, five ahead of Syracuse. The Black & Gold are fourth in steals per game at 9.9 and fourth in opponent turnover rate at 26.5%. In the last meeting with the Tigers, VCU forced Towson into 24 turnovers.

• Offensively, the Rams have used a balanced attack all year long with six players averaging over seven points per game. VCU is the only team in the country that ranks in the top three in their conference standings and does not boast a player in the top-15 in scoring in their conference.

• Ten times this year Troy Daniels has knocked down four or more three-pointers in a game. In six of those games, he has connected on five treys, including two of the past three games. He has connected on 14 of his last 30 three-point attempts.

• Tonight will be the 16th consecutive sellout at the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. The Rams are one of five schools in the country to sell out every game this season (Duke, Michigan State, Kansas, Gonzaga).
