Consider how it would effect unemployment. People would not retire, new workers would find it harder to get jobs from the less attrition.

If aging in humans could be stopped, it could result in several unintended consequences. Over-population would almost certainly worsen due to less people dying and extended fertility of women. However, the perpetually young would have no compelling age-related reason to retire and collect social security.
Are you sure that you would want to live forever (baring accidental death)?

This is such pie-in-the-sky crap that I don't know where to begin. You are not really serious are you?

Living forever is not possible now or any time in the near future. And, I would not want to live forever anyway. Just think, living forever would mean putting up with DF liberals forever...that would be hell.

And, I wonder what the overpopulation whackos think about this. They and their lefty elite allies will never let the masses get access, but they will use for themselves of course.

Every subject is always about liberals with you is it not?

"...repetition of thoughts and obsession, habitual fantasizing, negativity and cynicism, etc..."

My post had to do with science, not politics.

Did you even read the link? Reversal of aging has already been done with mice.

Jesus H. Christ! You act like I suggested something impossible, like a heart transplant, reattaching a severed hand, or an oral vaccine for Polo. Or, traveling to the Moon and back.

This is a political forum...No?

And in case you missed it, science was politicized by the left decades ago. IE - Global Warming!

I did read the link and thank you for posting it, but forgive me for being skeptical. Living FOREVER is just a tensy weensy bit more complicated than a heart transplant, reattaching a severed hand, or an oral vaccine for Polo....Yes?

dahermit has a good point. I am surprised it hasn't been discussed more.

Not only reverse aging (which is slightly science fiction right now), but just the idea of spending massive amounts of money to fight every disease known to mankind.

How are old people going to die? Or are we going to have people 90 years old and older, just toddling along, waiting for their next hip replacement? Meanwhile driving up health costs for the healthy people.

Maybe we should just not look for cures for some diseases, so old people have a way to die. Then we will have room in this world for young people.

That's the great thing about this research: It isn't about 90 year olds toddling along and waiting for their next hip replacement. It's about 90 year olds looking and acting like 20 year olds.

If I had the chance to have the strength and vitality of a young man, and live for decades beyond the normal human life span, hell yes, I'd take it.

As for overpopulation, yes, birth control would be a lot more important than it is now.

Yup, the research with mice indicated that some of the effects of old age were not just stopped, but were reversed.

If it works for mice, why not for humans eventually? This is really and exciting find. We've known for some time that the shortening of the telomeres was related to aging. If that process could be reversed, it would be a real life fountain of youth.

Of course, it is still science fiction at this point, but science fiction does have a way of becoming science fact.

I hereby volunteer to become 20 again, even if it means losing my pension.

Not me. I would not want to go through it all again. I have earned the right to grow old and die. The only way I could do it all again is why I did it the first time; too naive to know what was coming.

I'm not so sure that growing old is quite so easy, either. My dad had a saying: Old age ain't for sissies. I know what is coming, and it isn't fun.

Got that right. And, now with Obummercare it will be much worse thanks to those damn Useful Idiots.

When you are sent to the Death Panel and beg for your life, will you kick yourself for having voted for the Skinny Socialist?

Congratulations. You have once again managed to make a thread that has nothing to do with Obama into yet another thread about Obama. Couldn't you work the word "libs" into your post somehow?

I say, let's not screw with the system. Whoever made the system did okay. The only problem, he made life backwards.

You should be born old, with aches and pains, but know things are going to get better. In a few years, your hair turns brown again and girls are attracted to you again. Then you get younger and climb trees and swim in lakes without clothes.

Finally when the day arrives, you leave this earth as one big ORGASM!
