The First organized statement from "Occupy Wall Street"

So with that as preamble, here is formerly and finally, what Occupy Wall Street says and wants. It is, in essence, their special comment:
“As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies. As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members. That our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors. That a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people, and the Earth, and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power.
We come to you at a time when corporations — which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality — run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here as is our right to let these facts be known.
They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give executives exorbitant bonuses.
They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in workplaces based on age, the color of one’s skin, sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
They have profited off the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices.
They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.
They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is, itself, a human right.
They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut worker’s health care and pay.
They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people with none of the culpability or responsibility.
They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams, but look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.
They have sold our privacy as a commodity.
They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.
They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products, endangering lives in pursuit of profit.
They determine economic policy despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.
They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them.
They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.
They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives, or provide relief in order to protect investments that have
already turned a substantial profit.
They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.
They purposefully kept people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.
They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners, even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt.
They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad.
They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas.
They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts.
To the people of the world,
We, the New York City general assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power.
Exercise your right to peaceably assemble, occupy public space, create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.
To all communities that take action and form groups in the spirit of direct democracy, we offer support, documentation, and all of the resources at our disposal.
Join us and make your voices heard.”
The statement issued from Zuccotti Park by the general assembly at Occupy Wall Street. We will continue, and we’ll continue to update you on the events and the violence that ensued this evening.

So they are a hodgepodge of liberal ideas basically. The idea that college education is a human right is laughable. If you don't want the debt, don't borrow the money.

Sounds like it came out of a committee of uber-liberals mainly because it did. I'm only surprised that the union goons did not force them into a more coherent and Obamaesque manifesto. Its all good as they marginalize themselves needlessly when they might have edited out the totally fringe nonsense and actually gotten someone to pay them any attention.

Oh. . .the "occupy wall street" has marginalize themselves. . .but the Tea Party has NOT???

Yep. . .laughable!

And, by the way, it is NOT a partisan protest. It's funny that you waited until Fox News and Right wing media gave you a direction on how to consider this protest. . .There was only silence for almost 3 weeks, then Fox News and Limbaugh couldn't ignore the impact anymore, and started their outright attacks. . .so NOW the brainwashed right finally has their "marching orders!"

Yep. . .that's exactly what I was expecting! :)

I don't watch tv news.

All this has been dribbling out a little at a time its only that they consolidated their placards. Yeah, it is a partisan kerfuffle.

The rantings of radical leftists. CRAZY!

But, when your mind has been completed brainwashed by leftism, they naturally are f-ing NUTS!

In a nutshell they are anti-corporatism. Good - so am I. But they don't have a clue about what aspects of corporate existence are legitimate and which aspects are not.

In the end they are really anti-capitalists masqaurading as anti-corporatists.

Or dumb kids as I like to call them.

Are corporations in bed with politicians ? Of course, nothing new there.

Any changing that ? Nope.

But if you reduce government there are fewer teets to suck on and that helps a little.

Forgive all debt ? Imagine the Armageddon that would create...

Sounds like you're getting further and further down the road of the minority thinking, EVEN among Fox News addicts!

A week ago, you guys were laughing, today, you are insulting these protesters. . .tomorrow, you'll start thinking.

Protests are now in over 200 cities WORLD WIDE.

Occupy L.A. Speaker: Violence will be Necessary to Achieve Our Goals

Citizen journalist Ringo captured this speaker at the Occupy Los Angeles camp a few days ago letting the cat out of the bag: After dismissing nonviolence as a dead end, he admits that for the Occupiers to achieve their goals, violence and bloodshed will be necessary:

(video at the link)

Occupy L.A. Speaker: “One of the speakers said the solution is nonviolent movement. No, my friend. I’ll give you two examples: French Revolution, and Indian so-called Revolution.
Gandhi, Gandhi today is, with respect to all of you, Gandhi today is a tumor that the ruling class is using constantly to mislead us. French Revolution made fundamental transformation. But it was bloody.
India, the result of Gandhi, is 600 million people living in maximum poverty.
So, ultimately, the bourgeosie won’t go without violent means. Revolution! Yes, revolution that is led by the working class.
Long live revolution! Long live socialism!”
Crowd: [Cheers.]

Incredibly, he praises the massacres of the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror rather than Gandhi’s nonviolent philosophy.
And the crowd lapped it up.
Every single day, more videos emerge from the Occupy movement showing people saying things that, if they had been said by a Tea Partier, would have been front-page news for weeks and discredited the movement forever. But since it’s the Occupy Wall Street movement, darlings of the media and Democratic politicians, they get a pass.
More photos and videos from L.A. can be seen at Ringo’s Pictures.
