For a few years now it has seemed like the two parties and their arguing have dominated Congress instead on issues. It seems that we feel the need to place moral issues that should be decided elsewhere over the basic functioning of our government. It seems like representatives vote for their party instead of what's best for the country. I suggest that potential legistlation mo longer be able to be tweaked to suit a rep's personal interest. I suggest that they can only change something in a bill if it is related to the main theme of that bill.
Ex. Good: Budgeting of how to carry out bill on new jobs (related)
Ex. Bad: Giving your state agri subsidies on a military bill (unrelated)
I also suggest that the president be allowed a certain number of line item vetos per year that would allow him to take out the unrelated parts. I also suggest the banning of lobbyists in the making of government laws. Business doesn't want government in how they run themselves than business should stay out of government.
