As a black woman, Michelle has experienced things most of haven't all of her life. She is seeing that change today. This woman has children and I can only imagine what it must be like to realize your babies might not have the same chance to succeed as others solely because of the color of their skin. This is changing in America finally, but it has been a long, hard road.

I was around in 1964 for the civil rights act. I was around when George Wallace was blocking access to colleges in his state. I was around when MLK was announcing he had a dream and black churches were burning. I remember separate restrooms & water fountains and restaurants with 'no coloreds' signs on the door. I have watched as non-white Americans have become mostly equal and it has only happened in the last five to ten years IMO despite laws that have forbade discrimination. I have two beautiful mixed race great-grandchildren - I see the difference even today in how they are treated (and sometimes how we are treated because they are with us) as opposed to how my white great-grandchildren are treated when I'm out with them.

I understand exactly what Michelle Obama meant and it wasn't the sinister sorts of things attributed to her statements by right-wing pundits. She has been dismayed all of her life, but sees light at the end of the tunnel. I can relate to that.

Have you listened to any of Wright's sermons all the way through? I'm guessing not. The every single sound bite being used by right wings blogs and pundits I have seen has been taken out of context. When I have listened to or read the entire passage, it is clear Wright was not talking about hating white people.

I think it's hilarious when anyone tries to put obama in the "poor black boy" category. His mother was white. His grandmother who raised him sent him to a PRIVATE SCHOOL. Sure his mother was on welfare, he wasn't! He was living with his white grandmother.

Poor? He made $4.2M last year. Records show he has given 1%, YES ONE PERCENT of his earnings to charity since 2000. Wow. What a big giver he is!

What country are you from/in? Just a curiousty question as I have friends in a lot of places!

Dont bother, I tried for over 2 months to get him to say what country he is from and he wont say. I finally just stuck him on ignore because all he wants to do is bash the USA.

If by some chance you figure out what country he is from let me know, but I highly doubt he will tell you
