new guy comes in with no more other people's money to spend

sacre bleu ! Germany looks like an island of money surrounded by oceans of money starved zombies.

Having been in power for less than two months Francois Hollande is facing the first major test of his pro-growth election commitments after a warning from the national audit office that France’s economy is in the “danger zone” and risks falling into a “debt spiral.”

Late on Monday the national audit office said the French budget deficit will overshoot by 6-10 billion euros ($7.56-12.6 billion) this year and by 33 billion euros in 2013. In order to bring the budget in-line with EU rules, Hollande is going to have to make difficult decisions on spending and taxes that could draw criticism from his own party and unions who supported the pro-growth message that saw him beat Nicolas Sarkozy to the presidency in May.

Not to mention that the people with money and businesses are leaving the country. Oh wait, that sounds just like California.

Does anyone else see the irony in a Socialist running on a "Pro-Growth" platform?

Ah, but did he say what it was exactly he wanted to grow? That's just more of his "Bait and Switch", er...I mean "Hope and Change".

One day soon--Europe will run out of Germany's money.
But, they will be loathe to start trouble with the Fourth Reich.

stealing BOs schtick there. even they realize that needs to happen to get other people's money to squander on cronies. of course they think taxing the population to death is growth. always disappointed when it doesn't work like planned.

The most prosperous countries in the world, China and Australia, are still run by Socialists or Labor.

Australia is well-off because it spends little on defense, has a small population and has an entire continent to mine for minerals and wealth.
Not unlike Canada and Russia. These are not faults, of course, but they are the reality.

Has nothing to do with form of government.
