U.S. military deaths in Iraq at 3,391

    As of Saturday, May 12, 2007, at least 3,391 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,761 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.

    Agreed. We lost 191,963 during the Civil War, 53,402 in WWI, 291,557 in WW2, 33,741 in Korea, 47,424 in Vietnam - link

    3,000+ is sad and terrible, but it is a relatively low number.

    And that's only combatants. In the Civil War, over 500,000 Americans were killed.

    Especially when adjusted for population totals.
