Over 70 years have passed since the end of the WWII but the issue on reparations is still actual. Countries like Greece and Poland tend to increase pressure in demanding Germany to pay damages dealt during the war. So, in 2017, leader of the Polish ruling party Law and Justice Jarosław Kaczyński claimed that Warsaw never refused Berlin's reparations. During the last several years Polish politicians repeatedly brought up this issue. Recently a member of special parliamentary group, Sejm deputy Janusz Szewczak declared in an interview that Germany had to pay the Poles almost $1 trillion for the casualties during the WWII. After all, German authorities still consider Polish demands to be illegal. They affirm Poland officially refused any compensation in 1953.

Due to the rigid German position, the Poles try to give an international status to the issue and earn support from foreign partners. Poland is going to send to the UN Security Council a resolution with a demand to Germany to pay $900 billion compensation. That was told by president of the Institute of National Remembrance Jarosław Szarek in the letter to the US Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher. The tweet was published on the INR account.

It turned out that Washington helps Warsaw to promote Polish reparation demands on the international scene. The parties have been cooperating for a long time on the issue and obviously carry out a joint informational campaign against Germany that has been in discord with the USA on a number of issues lately. In the letter Szarek presents apologies to the ambassador for Szewczak's headstrong behavior whose mismatched demand threatened the plans, and promises the information will not spread in the media. It is still unknown whether other countries are going to back Polish initiative or not. However, having such a strong ally as the USA Poland, obviously, has a chance to be victorious in the fight for historical justice.

Cowardice Is the Crime That Enables All Others

The Poles let themselves be doormats, believing that other countries would do their fighting for them, or at least provide a counterbalanced threat between Germany and the Soviet Union. Then, when those countries formed an alliance, the Poles expected England and France to prevent the combined invasion that quickly took place. The incompetent and gutless countries that let themselves get occupied deserve no sympathy.

It's good to know what the German soldiers and people were thinking during WW2. Maybe they were being lied to but it seems they thought the were the good guys.

I haven't taken a firm stand on anything yet but it seems like what happened was quite different from what Americans are taught. I'm not a Nazi or anything, I'm just trying to separate the lies from the truth so that I can form an opinion based on what really happened.
