Value for torture (April 09)

It's kind of funny to argue on such a moral topic. Morality can't be traded. But American enable it with a value.

Torture/waterboarding works. Yes, so are other illegal things. You will have proof that Rape/murder works too. And you can defend that FBI imposed very tight restrictions on the use of torture.....

Only please you don't accuse Hitler for Facist or Saddam for torture, because they just do same thing you approved.

And because some people who think they are the outlaw and can do what ever they want to and justify their crime by "it works" or "value".

That's why President Kennedy was assassinated, so was Rober Kennedy. And Dr. Martin L. King. Because for insiders, the victim are " subject to additional limits" and up to someone's "value".

Thanks for those who boast "patriot" admit of the two standards. Hitler, Stalin, Mao Tze Tung and Kin Jong Ir gave themseves the same right openly. That's totalitarian. Bush is justified by someone like Yoo, that's democratic. Is there any difference when they did same thing? In the name of value? Or you will find some excuse to say if it was done by "them", then it's savage, inhuman but when "I" did it, it's for the value of ... eh "pratriotism", "democracy"?
 
The power of irrational fear in the US is extraordinary. It ranks up there with the Israel Lobby, the military/security complex, and the financial gangsters. Indeed, fear might be the most powerful force in America.

Americans are at ease with their country’s aggression against Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan, which has resulted in a million dead Muslim civilians and several million refugees, because the US government has filled Americans with fear of terrorists. “We have to kill them over there before they come over here.”

Fearful of American citizens, the US government is building concentration camps, apparently all over the country. According to news reports, a $385 million US government contract was given by the Bush/Cheney Regime to Cheney’s company, Halliburton, to build “detention centers” in the US. The corporate media never explained for whom the detention centers are intended.

Most Americans dismiss such reports. “It can’t happen here.” However, In northeastern Florida not far from Tallahassee, I have seen what might be one of these camps. There is a building inside a huge open area fenced with razor wire. There is no one there and no signs. The facility appears new and unused and does not look like an abandoned prisoner work camp.

What is it for?

Who spent all that money for what?

There are Americans who are so terrified of their lives being taken by terrorists that they are hoping the US government will use nuclear weapons to destroy “the Muslim enemy.” The justifications concocted for the use of nuclear bombs against Japanese civilian populations have had their effect. There are millions of Americans who wish “their” government would kill everyone that “their” government has demonized.

When I tell these people that they will die of old age without ever seeing a terrorist, they think I am insane. Don’t I know that terrorists are everywhere in America? That’s why we have airport security and homeland security. That’s why the government is justified in breaking the law to spy on citizens without warrants. That’s why the government is justified to torture people in violation of US law and the Geneva Conventions. If we don’t torture them, American cities will go up in mushroom clouds. Dick Cheney tells us this every week.

Terrorists are everywhere. “They hate us for our freedom and democracy.” When I tell America’s alarmed citizens that the US has as many stolen elections as any country and that our civil liberties have been eroded by “the war on terror” they lump me into the terrorist category. They automatically conflate factual truth with anti-Americanism.

The same mentality prevails with regard to domestic crime. Most Americans, including, unfortunately, juries, assume that if the police make a case against a person and a prosecutor prosecutes it, the defendant is guilty. Most Americans are incapable of believing that police or a prosecutor would frame an innocent person for career or bureaucratic reasons or out of pure meanness.

Yet, it happens all the time. Indeed, it is routine.

Frame-ups are so routine that 96 per cent of the criminally accused will not risk a “jury of their peers,” preferring to negotiate a plea bargain agreement with the prosecutor. The jury of their peers are a brainwashed lot, fearful of crime, which they have never experienced but hear about all the time. Criminals are everywhere, doing their evil deeds.

The US has a much higher percentage of its population in prison than “authoritarian” countries, such as China, a one-party state. An intelligent population might wonder how a “freedom and democracy” country could have incarceration rates far higher than a dictatorship, but Americans fail this test. The more people that are put in prison, the safer Americans feel.

Lawrence Stratton and I describe frame-up techniques in The Tyranny of Good Intentions. Police and prosecutors even frame the guilty, as it is easier than convicting them on the evidence.

One case that has been before us for years, but is resolutely neglected by the corporate media, whose function is to scare the people, is that of Troy Davis.

Troy Davis was convicted of killing a police officer. The only evidence connecting him to the crime is the testimony of “witnesses,” the vast majority of whom have withdrawn their testimony. The witnesses say they testified falsely against Troy Davis because of police intimidation and coercion.

One would think that this would lead to a new hearing and trial. But not in America. The Republican judicial nazis have created the concept of “finality.” Even if the evidence shows that a wrongfully convicted person is innocent, finality requires that we execute him. If the convicted person is executed, we can assume he was guilty, because America has a pure justice system and never punishes the innocent. Everyone in prison and everyone executed is guilty. Otherwise, they they wouldn’t be in prison or executed.

It is all very simple if you are an American. America is pure, but other countries, except for our allies, are barbaric.

The same goes for our wars. Everyone we kill, whether they are passengers on Serbian commuter trains or attending weddings, funerals, or children playing soccer in Iraq, is a terrorist, or we would not have killed them. So was the little girl who was raped by our terrorist-fighting troops and then murdered, brutally, along with her family.

America only kills terrorists. If we kill you, you are a terrorist.

Americans are the salt of the earth. They never do any wrong. Only those other people do. Not the Israelis, of course.

And police, prosecutors, and juries never make mistakes. Everyone accused is guilty.

Fear has made every American a suspect, eroded our rights, and compromised our humanity.

Blair, Director of National Intelligence, announced plans to transform the Pat Roberts Intelligence Scholars Program (PRISP) from a pilot project into a permanent budget item. Blair also announced plans to establish a “Reserve Officers' Training Corps” to train unidentified future intelligence officers in US college classrooms. Like students receiving PRISP funds, the identities of students participating in these programs would not be known to professors, university administrators or fellow students -- in effect, these future intelligence analysts and agents would conduct their first covert missions in our university classrooms.

Obama and Nobel Piece Prize

The US is going to start war on Iran for the reason of patro-dollar. Bush activated Iraq war for the same reason. Now it's Obama's turn.

European doesn't want war base on their opinion. That's why they give Obama the peace prize - wish to stop the war before it happens.

It really embarassed Obama and the US Inside group. That's why there are so many negative comments on the reward Obama gets. It will make the war intention more difficult to come true.

Now will they still start the war? Your bet.
 
911 ‘planner” to be prosecuted in court.

1. Most people realize the 911 attack was a false flag attack done by US government to justify Iraq war.

2. To cover up the 911 plot they created 911 planners.

3. Quantanamo prison was established to create such kind of "planners" because to produce such "planners", torture and brain wash is needed. Quantanamo prison is somewhere out of law where the Feds can apply all kind of cruel method on the prisoners. Otherwise why didn't they bring the captured "suspects" to continental US?

4. It still took eight years to force or "persuade" the prisoner to admit he was the planner. What a long "education".
 
Nigerian attempted aircraft bombing

So said "terrorist" used an advanced technology which for most of us have never heard of. It must be some technique went through a lot of lab tests. How could they fail at last procedure like the former "shoe bomber" case? Or the terrorists use some unskillful technique like it was a firework game?

Or most likely some group want to create a terror atmosphere to request more money for their operating fund or ask for more power? Or just a psychological preparation for a bigger coming terror "attack"?

The real flaw is: In both the Shoe bomber case and this Nigerian case, the bomber could go to the toilet room to do their jobs without any disturb. If failed, they could have left without trouble. But they chose to do it in public and both failed. It looked more like a planed show rather then a real plot. Do you think they and their leader are idiots? When in 9/11 the four planes drove so accurately to hit their targets by inexperienced flight school students who had never had the experience to pilot big planes like Boeing and no one missing a bit, is that too strange they failed in such a simple case, repeated same error?
 
I think the Nigerian attempted aircraft bombing case was created to push the legislators to extend the Patriot Act.

Same thing happened in 9/11 when they want the passing through ot the Patriot act. Do you still remember the anthrax attack at that time?

Perhaps the most contentious measure is the business records provision, also known as the library provision, which allows the government to seek a court order forcing private entities such as banks, hospitals, and libraries to hand over "any tangible thing" - from library circulation records to medical records - officials think is relevant in a terrorist investigation.

In Obama's speech of State of Union, he talked about almost everything: health care; spending cut.... there is a core he didn't touch: the two war in Mid-east.

Nobody dares to touch it. Law makers, government officials, even media. Nobody dares to touch it. The Internet swift boat team guide people to gossip this on Obama, that on Obama, only they too, dare not to touch the war on Iraq and war in Afghanistan. That is the core of US politics.

Obama can save more by withdrawing US army from Iraq and Afghanistan. He can save much more by cutting the budget of Pentagon which occupies half of the whole world's military spending. When so many poor people, even middle class need help, the ruling class throw money in war.

That core they dare not to touch is: there is still an un-finished war - war on Iran.

Paul Harvey, the news commentator and talk-radio pioneer whose staccato style made him one of the nation's most familiar voices, had close ties to the FBI, documents reveal.

He was a broadcasting legend, a commentator with a voice instantly familiar to listeners both loyal and sporadic.

But on the cusp of his national career, he was an FBI target whose network bosses fretted about whether he should be fired.

Paul Harvey's FBI file, released to USA TODAY under a Freedom of Information Act request, shows how his relationship with the bureau evolved from perp to pen pal. The 1,375 pages also illuminate how the FBI cultivated one of the nation's most popular media figures by not only providing flattery from its most prominent officials but also by secretly putting words in his mouth.

Harvey died last February at age 90 after a broadcasting career spanning seven decades. His voice reached 24 million listeners at the peak of his career, when his daily show was carried on more than 1,200 radio stations and his column appeared in 300 newspapers. His signature form was "The Rest of the Story," a folksy anecdote ending with an ironic twist, delivered with theatrical cadences and dramatic pauses.

The federal files show that Harvey frequently gave the FBI advance copies of his scripts and columns, seeking information and advice. The FBI obliged, even writing portions of Harvey's commentaries for him, the records show. A 1986 commentary, for example, contained an FBI-written section about the bureau's "highly regarded" services to other law enforcement agencies.

Harvey had written to FBI spokesman William Baker, enclosing a draft commentary praising then-director William Webster and asking, "Please help me add meat to these bones." Baker responded a month later, enclosing a copy of Harvey's draft with the FBI's handwritten corrections and additions.

"I think your words portray us very well but, as you requested, my staff has added a little 'meat to the bones,' " Baker wrote. The resulting commentary, also distributed as Harvey's syndicated newspaper column, included the FBI's suggestions word for word.

House sends extension of Patriot Act to Obama

WASHINGTON - Key provisions of the nation's primary counterterrorism law would be extended for a year under a bill passed by the House Thursday evening after Democrats retreated from adding new privacy protections.
The House voted 315 to 97 to extend the USA Patriot Act, sending the bill to President Barack Obama. Without the bill, the provisions would expire Sunday.
The Senate approved the extension Wednesday. The privacy protections were cast aside when Senate Democrats lacked the necessary 60-vote supermajority to pass them. Thrown away were restrictions and greater scrutiny on the government's authority to spy on Americans and seize their records.

North Korea had nuclear test. It also threatens a war on US. Iran never does a nuclear test. It also says it has no intention to do so. Yet, North Korea got food aid from US and Iran gets a sanction.

The president of Poland died in an air crash. That is part of the payment to Russia. There was a subway bombing in Moscow on 3/29 which killed 38 people. The bombing was planed to justify the coming terror attack in US, though it failed to be carried out. Then there came the payment: a regime change in Kyrygzstan and this air crash.

Where did you get the news of the murder in the hospital? I have seen nothing about this on the net.

I have friends who live in Poland and they tell me things are very tense there. Many Poles are afraid to speak out for fear of the Russians.
